I just finished Neil Gaiman's Stardust and loved its child story feel~ It's supposed to be a fairy tale, but in my opinion, the ending is too tragic to be called one. Anyone else have read it? What do you think of the story? The ending?

Hm... I've read it. Personally, though, I missed... the Gaiman in it. ._. I was watching the whole time for his quirky humor and aside from a few concessions, I didn't see much to indicate that he wrote it at all. So, yeah, that made me sad. XD
As for the actual story... well, it's been a while, so bear with me. I liked the witches... but then, I'm a sucker for villainy, and they had a moderate degree of dimension, so that was cool. But I didn't much like the star. >_> And the whole thing just kind of felt bland and trivial to me, like not much effort was put into it. Maybe it's just because I read the novelization instead of the graphic novel, but I found it kind of disappointing compared to his other work.

Well, Gaiman has two styles. I call them the flat style and the pointy style. Stardust is the flat style. Flat styles are usually poison to my mind due to the perfect flatness of the story, but I enjoyed this one. I needed it. I had to read something "flat" in order to cure my "post-finals syndromes" xp

XD I see. Quite understandable, then.
And, was I hallucinating, or did I see plans and promotions for a movie? Probably hallucinating, right?

I can't decide if they're going to ruin it or not. Considering that Gaiman is directing it, I have fairly high hopes. I think it comes out some time in the late fall or winter.::

Ah. But I don't. XD
I should probably start that.
I didn't get to see Stardust! So sad... ._. I heard it was really good, too. Hopefully I can rent it or buy it when it comes out...
