Okay. A little while ago I was one of the people that was completely against the Harry Potter series. Why? I honestly can't say. Anger at mainstream stuff? But something inside of me had kept building and building until finally I realized that I really wanted to read the books. My morbid curiosity at work once again. I just wanted to see if it was all hype, or if J.K. Rowling actually could write. But the one thing I hate more than anything on the face of this earth is waiting for books in a series to be realeased. So I decided to just wait until the series was really close to being finished. So, today after work I purchased the first Harry Potter book and came home to read.
Four to five hours later I am on the last page, shocked and amazed. I absolutely cannot wait until Hastings opens tomorrow to buy the next two books. And I am delightfully surprised! In all honesty, I have not read a book that entertained and hooked me so completely in about three to four years. True story.
So, have you read the Harry Potter series? In the middle? Desperately counting down the hours until the midnight release of the final book?
Did you hate the books? Mutual feeling? COMPLETELY obsessed? Tell me! I wanna know.

I've been reading the Harry Potter series since it first came out, and while I may have been a major fan in the beginning, I wasn't one of those little "wizards" you'd see calling their parents Muggles and crap like that. My enthusiasm over the world of Harry Potter has cooled over the years, but the books can and do still hook me whenever I sit down to read through them. I'm about to reread the entire series in preparation for the final book, which I have been waiting for patiently.

I'm not a big fan of the movies. I felt they took out too many things integral to the world Rowling created...and yes, I know she approved of the movies before they were release, but I still feel they butchered it horribly...

ok so I never started readding the books till the first move came out. I did read the book before seeing the movie and the books are so much better and I was so ticked off with the 4th movie it sucked big time. there was so much of the book that they never showed. but I can't say I'm a huge fan I wont be one to be the first to get the new book or even watch then newest movie but I still enjoy readding them

Personally, I preferred the early books. When they got to be massive, I felt like she went overboard. And what was with the one where Harry is full of "teenage angst", moping around? There was waay too much of that in the beginning which really slowed the book down.
She definitely can write and they are pretty fascinating to read. I didn't read them at first (gosh, if they're that popular, they can't be that good *snerk*), but two people whom I trust not only told me to read the first one - one actually bought it and sent it to me!
Yup, I'm waiting on the last one, but really want to re-read before I start it... do I start from the very beginning or somewhere in the middle? Any one else??

I'm planning on reading the series from the ground up in preparation for the finale. I wanna make sure every little detail from every single book is fresh in my mind for this finish. My only real question: Would she actually have to gall to kill off Harry? I've heard it being theorized before, and she has killed off some major characters (not naming names for those who haven't read), so I find it entirely possible...

I think I will go back and start again...

MQubed (that was kindof "hello") BUT ... so what's your favorite HP scene, person or item so far?? Ummmm...lets see, I just started book six today and by far my favorite character would have to be Ron Weasley. He grew up with far more siblings than I did, but I know how it feels to have troublemaking older siblings and having to grow up in their shadow! Also, Ron has learned sarcasm as his second language, as I have also. I see a lot of myself in Ron! And I guess that's why he's my favorite (apart from Harry of course...and Professor McGonagall) Favorite scene? I love all the Quidditch (did I spell that right? o.O) games and all the fight scenes. And I especially loved the Triwizard Tournament. So I can't really say I have a single favorite! And yeah...I think the Marauder's Map is completely awesome. Totally useful in any situation!
