Ka'hmesh waited absently for his drink to come ... leaning back just a bit in his chair, stretching. He wasn't quite dressed for work yet - having clothes to change into in a small bag. After all, he didn't need to look too out of place and scary-like here.
He'd started coming here about a week ago before work ... having found the shop at random. It was a nice and relaxing place to spend about an hour of time between whatever chores he had to do around his small apartment and when he was supposed to be at work. And it beat going to work early ... by a long shot.
Kyoko was happy to be out of the apartment on her own again. She was determined to spend what little time she had left to herself however she wanted to spend it. She certainly didn't need her father, Kyuubi, and even Anbu worrying over her all the time. Kyoko grinned at the place she'd found. She'd never been there before, which meant her family would be hard pressed to find her.
So in she walked and went up to the counter. "A tall chai, please." She paid what she needed to, got her drink, and proceeded to find a place to sit. When her eye caught sight of someone interesting looking, she nodded to herself and walked over. "'Cuse me...Is this seat taken?" She motioned to the empty seat across from him, a smile onher face.
Ka blinked slightly, having gotten lost in thought for a moment. Just then, his own drink came, and he smiled slightly - thanking the waitress - then turned back to the other young woman. "No ... it's not," he replied, voice quiet. But it was obvious that it was that way because he chose it ... he could be very loud when the situation required such. He simply ... preferred not to be.
Kyoko sat down, taking care not to fumble her drink as she set it on the table. "Sorry if I seem kinda random, coming out of nowhere like that. I'm Kyoko." She held her hand out, trying not to act like a little kid as she was prone to do 90% of the time. Something about this man just seemed to demand some measure of maturity...

"Ka'hmesh," he replied, in the same quiet, sort of serious tone. He reached out his own hand to shake hers, slightly bemused. He'd had people ask to sit with him before ... and generally enjoyed meeting them. Usually, they weren't this young though ... not that he minded. "What brings you here today?" he asked then ... safe enough opening conversational gambit.
Kyoko tried not to laugh as they shook hands. "Escaping from the worrywarts I know as my father and boyfriend. And this seemed the best place to hide. At least for an hour or so." She felt a bit strange, sitting across from Ka. It was a bit weird, hearing a quiet voice coming from a man of his size. "What about you?"
"Just here for some coffee and relaxation time bef
ore work," he replied, a faint smile playing at his lips. His habit of talking softly seemed to work better a lot of times with things like intimidation than shouting would. It got across the message that he was confident enough not to have to shout to get people to listen to him. Gave him the advantage more often than not.
Work. That reminded Kyoko to bug her father about her getting a job later. She couldn't rely on him and Kyuubi forever, and she had college coming up. "Relaxation is something far too many people take for granted...I know I enjoy every minute I get nowadays." She chuckled a bit nervously.
Ka raised eyebrows just slightly at her nervous tone, but he didn't ask. It wasn't any of his business, really. Instead, he simply nodded slightly, agreeing with her sentiments on relaxation. "Very true ... people are often far too busy for their own good."

Kyoko nodded and took a sip of her drink, content that it was cool enough to drink now. "Yeah...activity is great and all...but the body needs some time to wind down and recoop. And yet people are forgetting how to do that. I have to be able to do that as a dancer though." Kyoko looked up at Ka. "What do you do for a living, if you don't mind me asking?"

Ka blinked slightly ... she was a dancer? Well ... looking again now at certain features of her body type and such ... yes. He could see that. "I'm a guard of sorts," he replied with a quick little smile. "It's easy work most of the time and it pays well."
A pause, and then he said, "You mentioned you were a dancer just now..?" There was a hint of question at the end, inviting more information, should she choose to give it.

Kyoko blinked. A guard? It wasn't often she met someone in that general line of work. "That's cool." He certainly seemed the type to be able to guard someone or something well.
At the question, Kyoko nodded happily. "Yup! I plan on going to college for it. You could say...dance is my drug. I don't know what I'd do without it."

Ka leaned forward a little, resting an elbow on the table. "It sounds like you really enjoy it," he commented easily, sipping at his drink for a moment.

Ka thought about that for a minute, considering. Then he smiled slightly and nodded - though there was a bit of a shadow that crossed his expression for a moment. "I do ... in the right circumstances," he replied, returning gaze from that faraway place it had gone to.

Kyoko blinked. It wasn't often she saw someone's expression change like that when talking about dancing. She decided against bringing it up. "That's the way it is with most people. I seem to be an anomaly." She chuckled, then looked up at the clock. "Eep...I better be heading home soon, before everyone flips."

Ka blinked, and then nodded at that. "Indeed ... I should be heading to work soon in any case." Reaching across the table for a moment, he let fingertips brush the back of her hand. "It was nice talking to you, Kyoko."

Kyoko nodded, standing up. "The feeling's mutual, Ka'hmesh. I hope we run into each other again!" With that, she found her way out the door, back to her home, tossing her empty cup into the garbage on her way by.
