((I suck at titles a lot.)) Leon liked nature, it just didn't seem like he got to see it often enough. Every time he'd traveled up this way on the mountain, it had either been raining or getting dark. Not much to see or enjoy aside from the stars when everything was pitch black, and you couldn't see stars through the mass of trees.
There was only a soft crackle of leaves as he moved along, his footsteps muffled by the pine-needles littering the forest floor. The place was something of a maze. Idly the blonde offered how long he'd been wandering through, and if he'd seen that same rock before. Now last time he'd been this way, there was someone to follow. This time it was only him. Oh well, he didn't mind staying lost for a little while; he was in no major hurry to leave. The only problem was that everything, while nice and scented, was beginning to look like everything else.
Considering the trunk of one of the many pine trees, Leon dug claws into the wood and managed to clamber up onto one of the lower branches. If he could get up a little higher, perhaps he could see the way to go.

Hikaru Hitatchiin, who had been enjoying the forest himself, he flopped down upon a bed of particularly soft grass and leaves, drifting off to take a nap as the birds chirped and sang above him, and the sunlight filtered through the leaves to form dappled patterns upon the forest floor. With a soft sigh, the strawberry-topped male began to stir, the scrabbling sounds of something attempting to climb reaching his long ears. Those ears perked up, even if his eyes still stayed closed, his body struggling to catch up with his mind, in terms of waking up.
Finally, gold-tinted hazel eyes opened, and the older of the Twins peered around curiously, wondering what it was that had woken him from his nap. Peering upwards, he attempted to see the position of the sun, wanting to know how long he had been asleep. It was still rather bright out, though, so when he couldn't quite figure the time, he wasn't that worried. Rolling to all fours, he gave a mighty yawn, and lowered his eyes, looking at the trees now. He could have sworn he heard something clawing...
Ah! Now this was a rather strange sight, wasn't it? A Kitsusagi, clothed, as he was, seemed to be trying to climb up a tree. Why would he want to do that...? Ever the curious one, the bolder of the Twins moved to stand beneath the tree that was being climbed, shading his eyes with one paw, in order to keep any falling leaves or bark from falling into them. "What are you doing?" he asked bluntly, blinking those shaded eyes curiously.

The blonde had just hooked his forepaws over an overhanging branch when he heard a voice call from below. Hanging from the branch, the older male gave a powerful kick to the air with his sneaker-clad hind legs and pulled his abdomen securely over the branch using the strength of his fore legs. Now a pair of striking blue eyes stared down harshly at the redhead, brow creased in concentration more than anything. With a grunt, Leon pushed himself up to a stand on the branch.
"Climbing a tree so I can see the sights. What's it look like?" His gaze softened now that he wasn't in the middle of exerting energy, studying the civilian through the long golden bangs. "Do you need something?" Because he wasn't quite used to just anyone coming up to talk to him without wanting something as well. It was a bad mindset, but it wasn't something he could shake with only a few friendly meetings before.

Did he need anything? Hikaru tilted his head, studying the other male, thinking that his eyes reminded him of his Lord's, before shaking his head. "Nope, I don't need anything, really. Just wanting to find out what it was that had woken me from my nap. And now that I've figured out it's you trying to climb a tree, for whatever funky reason that is your own, I'm satisfied. Looking for company? Or maybe someone to spot you, in case you fall?"
Not that the relatively thin Ktisu would be able to do much if the other male did fall from the tree. It looked like the blonde had, easily, twenty pounds on him. And that twenty pounds seemed to be all muscle, if the way he was dragging himself up that tree was any indication. "On second thought, I'll just gather up a pile of leaves for you to fall on, since I'm not looking to break my back any time soon." He grinned, to show that he was joking, and wasn't looking to offend.

Those eyes narrowed a little at the beginning of Hikaru's response, and there was a half-hearted "Sorry" about halfway through. If you were going to sleep in the forrest, you were going to have to be prepared that other creatures might come through and wake you. A brow was arched as he went on, however, and Leon realized the other wasn't mad at all, or at least didn't seem to be. He shifted where he was, his tails curling their ends slowly about the branch as the other offered company. "I'm actually looking for a point in the right direction, but if company is the consolation prize..." He smirked a little. No, he might not know the kid, but he probably wouldn't mind company.
A soft snort came at the final comment, as well as a small roll of his shoulders. "Don't worry, I won't fall. Not unless you're planning to shake the tree." And here he stared steadily at the other.

"No plans on shaking the tree, don't worry." Hikaru shook his head to dislodge any pieces of bark or stray leaves that might have fallen into his hair whilst he had watched the other male climb the tree. "You look like you might be able to survive the fall, and where would that leave me? On my own, with a guy strong enough to drag himself up a tree pissed at me because I knocked him out of said tree. Not a smart move, on my part."
With a cheeky grin, Hikaru moved over to the tree, leaning back on his hind legs and placing his front paws against the trunk, walking up the tree until we was standing nearly vertical. He frowned, and looked up to Leon. "How the hell did you manage to get up there?" It was then that he realized he didn't know the other's name. "I'm Hikaru, by the way. Hikaru Hitachiin."

"Good choice. I'm a pretty fast runner, too, for future reference." His tone and features were reserved, but his eyes were amused and curious. He was considering climbing higher when the other approached the trunk, causing his claws to unconsciously into the wood beneath him, more or less due to the grin. He wasn't so sure he liked getting that sort of look, but then, he told himself, this was a kid. There wasn't anything wrong with confidence...
"Kinda all about finding a foothold. You planning on comin' up?" He implored, lowering his belly to the branch and craning his head a bit forward. "Leon Kennedy. Maybe after I have a look around, I'll just climb down." Despite a little wariness, he didn't want Hikaru getting hurt trying to come up after him.

"For future reference, eh? I'll file that away, promise." He lifted a paw and tapped his head, grinning still. He hadn't met anyone interesting since coming to the Mountain. Apparently though, he'd hit quite a large source of amusement with this Leon Kennedy. Putting his paw back on the ground, he glanced up at the tree again, still marveling that the other had managed to drag himself up there. The older of the Hitachiin Twins certainly didn't plan on crawling up there any time soon himself. He'd spent a while prowling the forest, and if the other just asked him, could more than likely lead him out.
But it was more fun to watch him climb the tree, Hikaru decided. If things went on for too long, he'd just give the other a nudge in the right direction. "I think I'll stay on the ground, if it's all the same to you. If I was meant to be in the air, I would have been given wings, don't you think?" He laughed all the same, and shook his head. "I'll just spot you from down here, I think."

There was a grunt at the statement and the gesture, and the blonde succeeded in looking stoic once again. Yeah, right, okay kid. "Suit yourself." With a roll of his shoulders, he lifted himself again, stepping over to the trunk of the tree. With a quick movement, Leon threw momentum into the aforementioned trunk that afforded him a good hold and push up to the branch some ways to the side and higher. Then, sinking his claws into the trunk again, he methodically pulled himself higher up without flourish. He turned his head while holding fast to the trunk, gazing over the treetops until his paws threatened to go numb. Alright, he could see some break in the trees to the east, where the river likely was.
Satisfied, Leon lowered himself to a branch and gave his forepaws a few shakes. "Too bad you think so. The view's good." He mused, swinging down to a branch below, then seeking the trunk to climb down to a lower branch. Steadying his breath there, he would finally jump down the last couple of feet, landing without complaint though it was a bit heavy. Now the blonde turned his head to consider the redhead from an equal level, offering a small smirk. "But if you don't think you belong high up, what're you doing in the mountains?"

"I will suit myself, thank you very much," he said primly, taking a few steps back as the saw the other male was working on his way down. Either he had found what he was looking for, or had simply grown tired of holding himself aloft in the tree. Either way, Hikaru noted that Leon was no less imposing on level ground than he was perched on a branch. This Mr. Leon Kennedy, who ever he was, was certainly interesting... And point was there to living if things weren't interesting? But still, in true form, Hikaru was simply waiting for the other man to loose his appeal. Then he would have to go searching for some new form of entertainment.
The elder of the twins blinked his gold-tinted hazel eyes, and offered a smirk in return. "Good question. Let's say I can deal with heights, as long as all four of my paws are on the ground. I'm not particularly athletically inclined, as you seem to be, so I won't tempt fate into killing me before my time has come," he said with a bit of a laugh. "So, did you find the way out, Mr. Kennedy? If not, I could more than likely point you in the right direction, if you ask nicely." He doubted that Leon needed the help now, though. He didn't seem the type to stop until he got what he was after.

"Is that so? You mean you like to take the safe path all the time? Somehow, I doubt that." Leon was a male often on the move, though he didn't seem to be the overly energetic type. He might lose Hikaru's interest quick enough if the twin was not, for the older kitsu now shifted to a slow walk, politely turning his head to the other when he spoke.
"Who said I was trying to get out? I'm not much for begging, either, if that's what you meant." The blue gaze was steady again on him, not quite suspicious, but giving a no-nonsense feel. "Besides, how do I know you won't just point me deeper into the forrest?"

"Just because I don't go around hauling myself up into a tree doesn't mean I like to play it safe," he said, that small smirk that had been playing upon his lips curving up even more. "In fact, I'm sure you could say that I'm quite the little devil. So you're also smart not to trust me. I could- and more than likely would- point you in the wrong direction. But you're an interesting fellow, and my conscience would compel me to set you aright. After a while."
He grinned, and stretched out, his tails falling back around both his sides as he settled again. "So if you're not looking to get out, what are you looking to do? What even brought you here in the first place?" Bright eyes watched the other male intently, finding his demeanor interesting as well. Not exactly threatening, but Leon definetly had an air of command about him.

"Well when you said you don't like to tempt fate into giving you an early death, I assumed you meant other things besides tree-climbing." A dark brow lifted as the Hitachiin continued, a soft but deep thrum sounding in the back of his throat at that. He concealed his amusement if he had any, giving his head a small shake. "Troublemaker, huh? Figures. As for me, I'm just a normal guy that's just a little more suspicious of strangers that grin like the cat who got the goldfish. Guess the scales between your teeth gave you away."
Hikaru could deal easily in tricks and lies, but neither were Leon's style. He considered an answer that would be the truth, but still keep his business private. Finally, he said, "I was and still am patrolling, as well as getting familiar with the area." He felt eyes on him, but made no move to shrink or grow. Instead, he put his gaze against Hikaru's for a moment, and it did indeed show a firm sort of dominance within it. "I'm about to move on. If you're still eager to be company, you should be on your feet, Hitachiin."

Amused more than he had been in ages with someone other than his brother, Hikaru offered the other male a wide, toothy grin. "If the shoe fits," he commented, lifting a paw and wiggling his toes playfully. This fellow was quick on his feet, and for whatever reason, Hikaru didn't mind his presence. Another small expansion to his horizon, as his beloved brother would say.
"More like I'm eager for something interesting," he commented dryly, not wanting the situation to be confused for something that it wasn't. He certainly wasn't lonely... Of course he wasn't. He was just... bored. That was all. Moving to his feet, he trotted up to Leon. "Lead the way then, Mr. Patrolman. Were you some kind of cop before you came here? You talk like how I would imagine a cop would."

Leon was not a bad guy, and was usually easy to get along with unless you were some criminal that hated the good guys. It wasn't surprising that the other was okay with him- the blonde wasn't really trying to be rude if he was. He also didn't notice how amused Hikaru might be with him. But the feeling was somewhat mutual. Hikaru might be interesting, for being a hoodlum. And he wasn't insufferable yet, so Leon wouldn't mind him around. He never really minded being by himself either, though. It'd been that way for a while now- at least Hikaru had his brother.
"I see. Well, I can't promise you anything." At the question, there was a snort. "A cop? Only humans can be cops, so no. I try to keep the peace, I guess you could say." He strode along, weaving through the trees while keeping his eyes on the set path ahead.
