So, I have come to understand that we are assembling a larp group. One of the things that sometimes goes along with larp is cosplaying. So, I am here to take a consensus of weather or not weather we as a group really WANT to cosplay and get into character or not, and if so, what kind of theme do we want to go for?
My idea was an Asian (kinda feudal Japan era) kind of theme. But Bale is leaning more towards a Medieval Europe kind of theme.
What are your ideas? smile

Guess it depends on how accurate the group wants to be. If it's a fairly large group, medieval might be easier to pull off, and possibly a bit cheaper. I'd say give it a few meet ups, see how it's going. Would also help if someone could scout places to buy clothes/materials at, just to give everyone a ballpark price.

The best place to go in my opinion would be a fabric store because they have all kinds of costume designs for medieval outfits. Hancock fabrics is awesome for what you need. And since I think everyone here is a bit more skilled with the sewing machine making your own would most likely be the best thing to do.

Now, I in NO WAY intend to make myself out to be an expert seamstress or anything, but I do know my way around a sewing machine. If anyone would like some advice on fabrics or patters or sewing advice, or anything else at all, I would be more than happy to give it . . . or to go on a field trip to a fabric store with someone to help them with anything. Just to ah, throw that out there . . . 3nodding

i wouldnt mind hearing any sewing tips you might have, bear in mind, i have no clue how to use a sewing machine. i do all my sewing by hand.

Same!!! Plus even then I just fiddle....and make up my own sewing technique.
Ohhhhh And I think we should do a mid-evil samuria/pristess/demon cossplay.

I will gladly be of service to you m'dear! 3nodding My machine is a little on the fritz right now, but I do have one. I could show you how to use it. Or if you ever get stuck with something, I can always help you. Just find out what kind of outfit you would like (keep in mind that you need to be comfortable, because of all of the moving around) and I can give you all of the help you need.

Wow, you really sew everything by hand? eek How can you stand it? Well, I suppose the biggest things to keep in mind are know your own abilities, and be cautious of the materials you choose. But, if you are going to be at the Boffle thing this week, I can discuss things with you more there. 3nodding

Hey, in my opinion, as long as your happy with the results, your own technique is just fine! 3nodding I had thought that too, but I dunno how well those kinds of costumes would hold up durring boffeling.

This is true.....it probably would be hard to do.....but FUN to try!!
And YES! TEACH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I no nothing!!!!!!! I would even go for learning how to make a stupid skirt!!!!
The last time my mom left me to make a skirt all by myself with no help....I almost sewed my finger to the cloth... sweatdrop
Ever since, I have never been left alone with the EVIL machine.....
