Personally I love this couple, Edgar, though he may be a womanizing, arrogant playboy, really does care about Terra, and Terra feels the same way about him.

I provide these examples as evidence:

1: At the start of the game when you first arrive at Figaro castle Edgar looks Terra over (he's the Figaro connection to the Returners) he says that he likes her and that he'll help her. Terra responds to this by asking him "Why are you helping me? Is it because of my... abilities?" (She's the first person known to use magic in the game (the world too)) Edgar responds to this with "I'll give you three reasons. First of all, your beauty has captivated me! Second... I'm dying to know if I'm your type... I guess your... abilities would be a distant third." Ever the playboy that Edgar of ours....

2: After the events in the first bit of evidence, Kefka decides that Figaro has had it too good for too long, that and he's figured out that Terra is hiding somewhere in the castle. Rather than give her up to Kefka, Edgar formulates a plan, ordering Figaro to submerge and flee to the western desert, leaving Edgar, Terra and Locke to flee via Chocobo to South Figaro. He put Figaro in the sights of the Empire's guns to protect her.

After the world ended Terra found herself in the ruins of what was once the town of Mobliz, Kefka had used his "Light Of Judgment" on the little town as a demonstration of his power, almost ever adult was killed trying to save their children, when Terra arrived there she lost her will to fight, Phunbaba attacks and Terra rushes out to intercept him, she barely scratches him, (Even if you use the most powerful spells in the game at Lvl 99 she still doesn't do any damage *nod nod*) and she gets KO'ed. your party rushes out and (despite whipping him into next tuesday....) he runs away (Nutsack!). Terra recesses further into herself, saying that not being able to even scare Phunbaba off, only prooves that she's lost her will to fight.

No, towards the end of the game theres a few cutscenes that show off Edgar and Terra's affections, the Manga companion booklet that came out with the special edition of the SNES in japan, elaborates on all the relationships in the game, it spans the story of 2 months after the end of the game, wraps up the loose ends of the game.
