Chapter 1 – Saved by an Angel (Teaser)

It was another cold day in the small town where young William was stuck inside doing his chores. He always wanted to go play outside with the other children of the neighborhood but his headgear always got in the way. Since his father was a dentist, he wouldn’t allow his son to go a life without perfectly straight teeth so William was cursed with this metal contraption around his head until the end of his teen years.

He was an only child with only one parent. His mother died when he was very young so he never really had the chance to get to know her. His father on the other hand was always at work with his patients so William only saw him in the morning before going to school and in the evening right before going to bed.

A solitary childhood isn’t always the best. He never had to the chance to experience normal childhood experiences like going to the park, playing hide and go seek and finger painting. His father always told him that those activities are for the simple-minded and that no son of his would be a foolish child.

William didn’t even know what candy tasted like. He would go out for Halloween every year but never actually ate any of the candy. His father would take his pumpkin shaped plastic holder and dump all the candy onto his desk. William would sit in the old Victorian chair that was placed right in front of his desk and he would watch his father as he looked through the candy.

Hopefully this year would be very different or so William was hoping. This year he would be entering the local private high school where all the rich snobby people went. This did not please him too much but at least he was getting an education so he could eventually get away from this small town.

William continued his chores of cleaning the parlor, bathroom and vacuuming the whole house. Even if the building looked small from the outside it really wasn’t because there was the house and the rooms for his father’s practice. Even with all the space he always felt alone.

That really didn’t matter right now, the only thing that did was to finish his chores so he could get ready for his first day of school which was tomorrow. He put away the vacuum in the closet and headed upstairs to where his room was. When his family moved in, he had the choice to which room would be his and he chose the attic room since it was away from everyone.
