Hi, and welcome to the Healers and Herbalists Guild, a place to discuss alternative medicine and alternative living. ^_^ I'm the new guild captain, Kyoki- your crew here are Nemone, our vice-captain and the founder of this delightful guild, and Malkut, our crew members who help us keep this guild running smoothly. Others may be temporarily crewed to help with the cleaning of the guild.
We're glad you stopped in, and please excuse any mess. ^_^ We have a lot going on right now to celebrate together, and we're glad you're here.

Nemone's Original Post I'm your Guild Captain, Nemone, and I am at the moment considering a career in herbal medicine and natural healing. I'm not sure what route I'm going to take yet, I'll figure that out once I've learned a bit more about the topic and done some experimenting. I'm 23 and I'm married and I have a 2 and a half year old daughter and a pesky cat that my husband calls Mittens but which I tend to refer to as "Kitty" or "that rotten cat." I love cats, truly, she's just really a pain sometimes. I'm also a house wife at the moment, having paid my dues by tolerating being in the marines for 5 years. Feel free to introduce yourself here and tell everyone else a little bit about you, where your interests lie, etc.

I'm glad to be a part of this guild, and I look forward to seeing it grow. ^^
Anyway, on with the introduction and such.
I joined this guild earlier today. My real name is Kayla - but everyone here calls me Dark or DS. I'm currently 18, and going into my second year of college. To be honest, I love animals of all types and I'm artistic by nature. ^^
Whenever I'm not on Gaia or at the College, I'm most likely working on a new painting or drawing - I've even sold a few now, and have taken requests to do others. ^^
Also, for as long as I can remember, I've always had a strong interest in herbs, and natural rememedies. I'm always trying to learn more, but since I live in a small town in Newfoundland, I'm kind of limited.

My name is Kyoki, I'm 22 years old and a current resident of Florida, although I'll be heading home to Washington State shortly. I've been a hobby-herbalist for six years. By hobby-herbalist I mean that I practice natural remedies as a hobby, not as a lifestyle. I've been married two years as of July 20th, and I have no children... but I do have two dogs, three cats, and three ferrets, and one roommate who currently lives in Orlando while he's going to school. I plan on pursuing a career in nursing once I get back up north to Washington, as my dad is helping pay for my college. Uhm... I have a (very) small collection of herbs for the basic issues, but I could use some help to work out a way to make more advanced things than teas, infusions and decoctions.

Hi! I'm Malkut, and have been interested in herbalism for a while, but have only recently begun studying it. My personal philosophy is that the Earth gives us all the cures we need, but that modern man has lost the knowledge of how to use them. I'm a bit of a survivalist, as well as a historical reenactor, which may be what got me on this whole kick in the first place. I don't know much, but I can't wait to learn!

Hi everyone,
I was glad to come across this guild , and am glad to be a part of it. In real life I'm a CCA ( a nursing assistant ) in Canada and part of my job is keeping the fellow I look after as healthy as possible, as naturally as possible as my employer & I both believe in natural remedies whenever it's feasible. I am interested in becoming a chartered herbal therapist one of these days... and in the mean time my family ( a 6 yr old son , a teenage son & hubby) and I are into good nutrition , growing our own organic veggies and choosing free range & organic foods & household products. we use herbs in our food ( food as medicine) and in our medicine cabinet, and are always striving to learn & share our info with like minded people ! I have over 200 recipe books if anyone is looking for any...Cheers biggrin

My real name is Naomi, but everyone here calls me Neko or Kiki. I'm 18 and starting my second year in college. I love animals, especially cats if you couldn't tell by my name sweatdrop I love crafts, dancing, reading, and I have always had an interest in herbal medicines and look to learn more about them.

I found this guild through another guild that I belong to. I believe in keeping your body healthy so that fewer medicines (herbal or otherwise) are needed in the first place. I'm not perfect, I get sick...but I do my best to stay in shape and eat the right foods.
I have changed doctors several times because in the U.S., too many doctors are what I call "prescription happy." My kids' current pediatrician is someone I love because she says "They might have _______" whatever the disease is, "but I want to wait to get the tests back before we do anything." I've been to so many pediatricians that just write a script for general antibiotics before finding out exactly what's wrong.
The last GP (general practitioner) I had I went to because I had bronchitis. She wrote five scripts. I never went back.

Hi all
I'm 22 and live in florida. I'm a practicing Pagan, and have been for about 8 years. I love studying herbal medicine, and prefer it hands down to anything western. I'd love to meet a bunch of people who love herbalism too.. I'm also a friend of Kyoki, and she told me about this forum

I'm generally called Fyer or Luna, which ever you like. I probably won't be posting that often on account of I'm a first year university student majoring in English. I'm from the East Coast of Canada, a really rural Nova Scotian area, though I'm studying in the capital, which is also pretty rural compared to most map cities.
I'm a bit overenthusiastic sometimes, and by sometimes I mean todlers who usually have boundless energy get tuckered out playing with me. If I'm bugging you, I need to be told clearly. I'm bad at picking up on things like that.
So I suppose that's everything relevant. Once things calm down I'll be here more regularly.

Hey there, I'm EladrinStarmist, but Eladrin is fine. I've been studying herbs and herbal remedies for about 3 years now but only as a hobby. I am also interesting other natural healing arts such as Reiki, crystals, chakra therapy and aromatherapy. I LOVE gardening and can't wait to get some space outdoors where I can put down my roots, so to speak. blaugh
My personal belief system is a little complicated so I wont bother posting it up. I will say, however, that I'm Pagan but not the fluffy or Christian-bashing kind. If your faith makes you happy then I dont' have a problem with it.
