Ok, so apparently wikipedia got Karin's name meaning wrong, or something.Wikipedia say's it means 'intense sulfur' and the fruit 'quince'.

Now the new information say's, it means something absloutly differnt. The Greek meaning of Karin is "Pure", and the Japanese meaning of Karin is "Summer forest".

To see this information click here. So, any opinions on the matter?

I don't think the information was wrong before. I think Karin has different meanings in different languages. (Karin is a pretty international word. For example, another form of Karin is Karen. And it's common, too.) I think that "Pure" and "Summer Forest" are just different additions to the list of what Karin actually means.

I still think the name was based off of the fruit, but that's just my guess.

I agree. The name Karin can have a lot of extensive meanings to it; and well I guess "Pure" and "Summer Forest" could be direct translations to the name, and "intense sulfur" and the fruit, "quince" could be the overall meaning of the name.

Like take my name for example, Marlena. It means "Marvelous" (which I'm not), but when my friend came up to me one day, he had said that it was an expression in German... confused

So I guess these different meanings to Karin could be like that.

XD.

I believe Karen was drived from the name Karin, or it could be the other way around.I think Karin was based off the Quince fruit as well.

My name comes from one orgin, and that's the ash wood tree.So yes, Karin's name has alot of different meanings. heart

I like the name "Karin" better than "Karen" simply because of the special ring to it. It's kind of like, just the way you say it...

I really don't care about the signifigance of her name. x3 As long as it's pretty, like her. heart

Well her name has meaning to me.I like to know the meaning of names, and her name meaning could explain what she's based off of.

Kishimoto likes to make the name, of his character's have a vital importance. The name also can discribe the character.Ex:Naruto-Spirals,Sakura-Cherry Blossoms,Hinata-Sunshine,Sabaku-Sand Waterfall,Suigetsu-Water Moon.So yes, her name is in a sense is significant.
