UPDATE: Today, 7/2/07, I got a used laptop. It was a pretty good deal, only a little more for 300 US dollars. I got a Compaq and it's only Windows 2000, but it'll get the job done and has internet access. I still need to get a better mouse, since I don't really like the one attached, but hey, this is still a pretty good deal. Thanks for teh feedback ^____^
Hey guys. I've been saving up for a laptop computer and for my 8th grade graduation, my parents are promising to pay for the rest of the cost of a used laptop and Microsoft word. Now, before I go shopping, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I should get, like this type or that type. I know almost nothing about the types of laptop computers out there. All I want it to have is internet access (which it'll come with) and I'll have to buy micosoft word seperately (unless my friend's dad can upload it on there, since he has a bunch of microsoft stuff)
I'm not looking for any notebook laptops (or whatever their official name is) just something simple so I can write my novel this summer. Any ideas on what I should get?

Either a Dell, or a sony...but Sony is, even if used, expensive. They are good, sure, but they are very expensive. A dell can be customized accordingly to the buyer's interests, or if it's used, you can get it wiped clean and then get it customized. I'd go with a Sony, because it has more ram, and hard drive(Usually). But at the same time I'd go with a dell, because it can be customized to the buyer's interests.
