Most members of this guild know how to role play which is great. They are also at the very least semi-literate which is even better. Yet however i feel that there is not enough traffic or role players in the role playing forum. I want to set up a guide to the yes's and No's of role playing and such forth.
I want everyone to contribute to this guide as there is no right or wrong way to role play. Although there are already great pages in the Role playing forum with basic knowledge about literacy, abbreviations and such forth, i want this guide to focus more on character development, plot devices and how to get around that dreaded writer's block ((Yes it is horrible)).
Tata and Respond. I want to know what you think about this idea. It is better if we have lots of contributions as there is no right way to roleplay as everyone has their own style.
EDIT: When i say character devolpment, i am referring to having a clear outline of what your character is like so it isn''t like the character has a spilt personality. Also devolping the character's race for those that are new to roleplaying because i've seen mistakes out-side the guild such as a vampire immune to the sun, a half angel, half demon, half vampire and half werewolf guardian and so forth. I want to prevent that from happening in the guild.
EDIT: When i refer to own style, i mean own style while obeying the rules.
EDIT: This is going to be the OOC for the guide. If you want to contribute a paragraph or so like WildWindWhisper and Tatsu_the_dragon have, please do so.

As the mule account of the OAAG I do not join in roleplays. I do agree with the need for more members to join in the roleplaying. Also I agree that there is no right or wrong way to roleplay. There are rules though. (Godmodding/flaming/etc). Its nice to see that more than Captian Tatsu, Windy, Cresent Moon Angel, BuglBoy & crew feel this way.

Quote: Most members of this guild know how to role play which is great. Completely agree. Quote: They are also at the very least semi-literate which is even better. ( Blush) Most times everyone that RP`s is semi-literate. We have 6 literate RPers in the OAAG. With one more added yesterday. However not all the Literates still partcipate in OAAG. Quote: I want to set up a guide to the yes's and No's of role playing and such forth. This is a cool idea. Eventually we must place it in the RolePlay Forum. Quote: there is no right or wrong way to role play. I agree. But agree with Angel Academy about there being rules. Most are set up by the RP creator. But there are solid logical rules too. ( Godmodding/Ect) Quote: Although there are already great pages in the Role playing forum with basic knowledge about literacy, abbreviations and such forth (Blush) Have worked hard on achieving that. , Quote: i want this guide to focus more on character development, plot devices and how to get around that dreaded writer's block ((Yes it is horrible)). Umm. Good idea.......... Quote: there is no right way to roleplay as everyone has their own style. I agree. Shall post ideas when I have more time. ..............WildWildWindWhisperer ( Vice-captian Official Angel Academy Guild)

State your character`s name at least once in each post.
This helps to indentify you with the character you are playing and with plot line. It gives opportunity to not need to constantly look back at the Character Bio/Skeleton lists for who you are, what your purpose is, your personality, and relationship to others. It gives flow and helps others to maintain train of thought. ( I , personally had this problen till recently)

I love this idea! I agree that we need to set some facts and how to's from what we have all learned. Also we need to learn how to make roleplays without help of TV shows. Even though rpg's based of shows or books can be fun. I am glad a member is trying to make the guild better for roleplayers. It may just bring more members and activity. I give you my full support on this and will try to get as much info as I can. Also even if the crew doesn't post it here, I know they support you. Why would they not? Even if they are not active on Gaia at this moment. This helps with my stress, Windy's and the crews. Thank you for this idea. I'll try my best to post what I know. -Your Captain and Crystal Angel, Tatsu_The_Dragon

Quote: Most members of this guild know how to role play which is great. Yeah. Those that do RP are goodQuote: I want to set up a guide to the yes's and No's of role playing and such forth. Cool.It will go well with the other stuff that is posted in the RP FORUM thingy.Quote: Although there are already great pages in the Role playing forum with basic knowledge about literacy, abbreviations and such forth Yes. But more is good. I like the other stuff. Learnt alot about RP from it. Didnt know anything before it.Quote: there is no right way to roleplay as everyone has their own style. That is not what most RPers on Gaia believe. Here however the OAAG is a learning guild and a place of various levels of RP and learning. Tatsu has been good with that. She likes the helping and has made it clear to Crew that we are to be helpful, compassionate and mentors.
Sharing my info and stuff. Well, I am really a newbie at RP but it would seem to me that for character growth it would be best to have the character go through a few painful moments or experiences. ( A lost love, broken body part, illness. or something like that)

I like this idea! I concur that the guild may use a few more facts. The OAAG already has information in the roleplay forum area. The stuff there is good. As far as I know Windy placed most of it there. It is where she suggested I go when I have questions( and she is not online.)
My idea: It would help more if the individual RPers would provide more details in their initial Bio/ Profiles. Then once they have set up the character personality and it’s clear where they started in the journey then we notice the growth they experience a little bit more. It would also be twice as nice if they stuck to the character outline , instead of changing personality half way through the RP.

I.C.E._Goddess: (Once more I blush.)Quote: It would also be twice as nice if they stuck to the character outline , instead of changing personality half way through the RP. To further express this thought. The growing process of a character is change and is what is wished for to occur within a plot line. However, not total personality change. The character (generally speaking) should maintain their original essence. There are times when complete change of personality do occur but it’s not a regular concept. Growth is slow, is a learning process and occurs through well setup actions.

Roleplay Activity
I dislike waiting for people to post! Especialy If I know they have been online and have not bothered to reply to a post. Such as the person posted, I reply and they come online and don't post. Even though they have been online like an hour. I understand if he/she can't do it, because they are doing a project but they should check. This has happened to me several days in a row and when the person was on more then once.
So if you come online and have joined a roleplay or anything for that matter in or out of a guild. Check your roleplay to see if anyone has replied or posted in it. You don't have to do it immediatly but it should be part of your daily online plan.

I am placing this in the helps section. If captian Tatsu or Windy want it back or changed then they can do that.
