Perfection is hard to deal with,
It will always lead to pain.
But of course it's only a myth;
No one's perfect in every way.

I almost wish I'd known this
The day I saw her there.
Little Miss Perfect New Girl,
With her hair that's oh, so fair.

She had everything I wanted,
The toys, the friends, the looks.
And of course she had to flaunt it,
Becase she was Perfect Brooke.

I hated the way she smiled
At anyone she met.
She even smiled at me once;
The stage had then been set.

It was two summers later,
A tragedy occurred.
The perfect Brooke I hated,
Had killed herself that night.

I wondered why she'd done it.
I wondered how she could.
Who would rather die
Than get through childhood?

A note was found beside her,
Written in her perfect hand:
I'm sorry this must happen.
But now I'm in a better land.

I wondered what that meant,
And suddenly I knew.
She didn't want the things she had,
She wanted something new.

I visit her gave every summer,
And tell her of things I've learned.
I like to leave her flowers;
She loved their silence so.

The End

New one. Please, give me citique! Which was better, which was worse?

A simple phrase
Can mean so much.
A single word of love
Can make me feel
It's worth the pain
To live through all this stuff.

When I'm alone
And feeling low,
I like to say a prayer
For someone who
Would love me still
Despite the winter's chill.

I've waited through
So many years,
But still I cannot cope.
The pain that hounds
Me to this day,
My God, it's just so rough.

I cannot see
How they could leave
Me lying on the streets.
They, with their friends
And families,
Could spare nothing for me.

I see it now,
My heaven's light,
To take me from this pain.
To bring me to
My heaven's gates,
The herald angels sing.

The truck came on,
Its horns ablast,
Unable to turn away.
The boy that stood
In it's deadly path,
His eyes have closed for good.

The funeral
Was held for him
In a small church by the sea.
The crowd there
Wept in memory
Of all that he had seen.

They buried him
In a quiet park,
And left him flowers there.
In memory
Of one small boy
Whose life was cut too short.

And if he knew
Who came that day,
His eyes would fill with tears.
For everyone
Who'd seen him live
Had wept for him that day.

The End
