Perfection is hard to deal with,
It will always lead to pain.
But of course it's only a myth;
No one's perfect in every way.
I almost wish I'd known this
The day I saw her there.
Little Miss Perfect New Girl,
With her hair that's oh, so fair.
She had everything I wanted,
The toys, the friends, the looks.
And of course she had to flaunt it,
Becase she was Perfect Brooke.
I hated the way she smiled
At anyone she met.
She even smiled at me once;
The stage had then been set.
It was two summers later,
A tragedy occurred.
The perfect Brooke I hated,
Had killed herself that night.
I wondered why she'd done it.
I wondered how she could.
Who would rather die
Than get through childhood?
A note was found beside her,
Written in her perfect hand:
I'm sorry this must happen.
But now I'm in a better land.
I wondered what that meant,
And suddenly I knew.
She didn't want the things she had,
She wanted something new.
I visit her gave every summer,
And tell her of things I've learned.
I like to leave her flowers;
She loved their silence so.
The End
