serously what the difference between them?
and If Sonia Belmont was the first belmont to slay dracula that means
she got married and gave the vampire salyer to the next belmont?
but her son/daughter will not be a belmont anymore because her lastname will be changed?

I believe guild is gathering of people that does not necessarily have to be blood related, like a club or sect, while a clan is all blood related, like a family, even if the last name is lost or not (I think to a certain degree)
About Sonia (do not read if you don't want any spoilers and/or have not played Castlevaia Legends):
Sonia Belmont was actually written out of the Castlevania story by Igarashi to be replaced with Leon as the first Belmont but Sonia's story could have worked if the whole "Alucard is the father of Trevor, thus that's why the Belmonts are stronger" (cause they're damphirs) was true. Besides it was speculated that Sonia and Alucard had a one night stand kinda thing and Trevor was born of that and since they didn't marry, Trevor (who we suppose is the baby in the ending to Castlevania legends) took the last name of Belmont instead of Tepes or Dracula xd

Oh yeah I did a major reasearching
and Sonia was the second Belmont
the first one was Leon and Dracula is not the King of darkness because
leon killed the king of darkness which is not draula
Sonia has a son who is Simon belmont but.....
Simon's Father is........Alucard!!!! eek
they have s*x in the castle....but why is Simon's last name belmont?
awww forget it! Julius and Juste rocks!!!
and for the non belmont
...aw I forgot his name but he was the hero in circle of the moon in Gba!

The gargoyles seem to disagree. xd So do ninja clan for that matter. I believe the difference lies in what a group does. A clan is a group of people that all have something in common, whether it be a profession or master or race, and they come together to act as a group to accomplish things. A guild is a group bound by a common interest/goal that anyone can join if they can meet the requirements. And I think alot of guilds will charge you for things whereas once you're in a clan you cooperate with the others unconditionally.

Belmonts marry in the family as least that was what i was told....maybe she had a brother or something. i don't know.
