My fish, Patchy... who wants to live forever?

I recently got a new fish, one of those albino catfish, to keep my other one company.
This newer one, who I named Patchy, only had one eye. I thought it made him different but apparently, he wasn't the healthiest fish ever...

I swear, I only had this one a couple of weeks.
This morning, he got stuck between the side of the tank and the filter, because one of the suction cups holding the filter up came loose. He looked a bit odd after I got him loose.
Then, I just now remembered about it, and went up to check, and my stupid fish was dead.
And I'm being such a baby about it!
I couldn't even take him out of the tank, I made mom do it.
Damn.
If I cry when my stupid tiny little fish who I've only had for like two weeks dies, I don't even want to know how I'll get if I have a dog or cat and they die.
God.

So, to make this not completely pointless, have you ever had a pet die?
How did you deal with it?

I've had lots of pets die. The ones that affected me most were my dogs and one of my ducks. My duck died because she got out and my dogs killed her. My one dog died while I was at school. He was only 13 and was having problems walking. When I got home it was the saddest thing ever. For him and the duck I missed a few days of school I was so sad. We also had to put our other dog down. I didn't miss school for that one because I had already graduated before then. But I would have if I was in school. So ya, I basically miss school so that I can cry. sad

Man, that sucks, guys. crying

My cat died about two and a half years ago, and I've been petless ever since. It was particularly sad because it really came out of nowhere. I'd been taking a shower when my parents noticed he was acting weird and wheezing, so they took him to the vet. Once they came back, they'd put him to sleep already because of a tumor obstructing his airflow. Poor widdle kitty, he was fun. crying What's worse is that I kept thinking about the way I'd been messing with him for the days before they took him down there (me and the cat were rivals, so to speak).

Yeah, that really stinks.
I'm just afraid of what I'll be like when my current albino catfish Thomas dies. I've had that little s**t ever since September '06.
I'm going to be a wreck when he throws in the towel.
I love that little fish!
I talk to him sometimes!
