It's all true. They plan to do an official final follow up series to the Mai-HiME series - a direct sequel to DESTINY taking place in the future when all the characters are much older.

And from what I am reading now... sad

Apparently this series has a lot to do with the First District and ties in a lot with Natsuki's past (regarding her mother.)

It also has quite a bit to do with Shizuru. It's said the first district is run by the Fujuno family. It's a family-orientated mafia-run organization who wishes to *something* (unclear) with the power of the HiME/HiME Star. (The Motivation isn't clear, but in a nut-shell they wish for the rise of the Obsidian Lord, for some reason.)

Shizuru in Mai-HiME betrayed the first district for Natsuki's sake, and killed her own family. Those old people were her ancestors and that house that she raped housed Natsuki in is revealed to actually be hers/her families/one of the first district's headquarters, not some abandoned house belonging to a random girl she teaches tea-brewing to.

Now apparently theres a Jap-American alliance between Fujino and Smith/SEARS to get the power of the HiMEs (Smith's motivations remain the same like in the first series.)

It's also revealed that the Fujino family (aka: first district) are to blame to for Natsuki's mother's death. Because Shizuru was not fleshed out very much in Mai-HiME, this new series fleshes out why. Shizuru was always aware of her HiME powers and the First District, and she was actually a catalyst in the Mai-HIME series, being the cause of some of the bad things that happened. Apparently the conflict lay when Shizuru fell in love with Natsuki and Natsuki turned out to be a HiME too.

In this future setting, Natsuki has sworn an oath of vengeance on Shizuru and has become her arch nemesis. Apparently it is revealed that because of Shizuru it is the reason Mai is dead, and Nao is dead/dying (unclear.) Shizuru also has scars on her body because of some past conflict/fight (it seems from the screenshots) due to Natsuki.

Natsuki is teaming up with Midori to challenge and take out Shizuru and her First District Mafia, and it looks like Shizuru has teamed up with Mikoto and Miyu??

I haven't seen any other evidence of any other characters, but everyones got a huge revamp.

Bari makes it almost sound good with the way she describes it.

It's the same brilliant team behind the Mai-HiME Manga. The "cowboy bebop" creative team. Funny how cowboy bebop rocked, and Mai-HiME manga sucked! But it explains the dark-style and look to the new series. Observe: (BUT BE WARNED)

I can't imagine a 2 volume novel (Destiny) is going to be a lengthy edition to the HiME storyline. With only 2 full-length series and 1 OVA (maybe Destiny will be the 2nd OVA) I wouldn't be surprised if they have decided to make another full-length series with this one.
Everywhere they're calling this the "second installment" with no real title yet. If they're working on Destiny now and it's a short OVA, I wouldn't be surprised if they've taken this "DESTINY X" as a project at the same time to be released as a surprise.

Information hasn't been released to North America or places in Eastern Europe. I don't live in either place and I didn't find much information online. I shared most of what was collected with Barentine, who provided the summary and description in good well-understood and explained English.
