An rp for Setsu and Leon
Damn, the insistent ringing sound. Would it ever end? Though such noise could be heard by no one else within the steep and dense woods of the mountain. A serene and rarely treaded depth of environment. Only the constant sound of chattering birds and skittering squirrels interrupted the peace. All paying no heed to the kitsu resting heavily upon the trunk of a grandly aged tree.
In the lush cover of greens and browns, leaves and rocks, the femme kitsu slumbered without movement. Not even that of breathing. The smallest of critters didn't dare to tread near the aura of unliving. The tree provided the only support for her slump frame, much like that of a discarded plastic bag. Dry blood coated the visible side of her scalp, matting the hair and trailing down over closed eyelid and cheek. A horn, bloodless, rested firmly on the other side of the scalp against the tree. Foreign clothing of sorts were tattered, specks of the blood having made their home on the fabric long ago. A small sword rested just as undisturbed as the kitsu, mere feet away. Scaled tails lay limply under recently fallen leaves, the luster no longer evident in their pearl hue.
Still, the faintest shudder was evident in her paw. As if desperately wishing to grasp the short katana missing from its owner. Pale icy skin, however, was unwilling to move, let alone awaken. The only comfort, was the ringing sound within her mind.

Perhaps it was a rarely explored environment, and likely the hovel for all assortment of abnormalities. That was why he was there, padding with muffled steps over the fallen leaves and needles of the underbrush, pointedly avoiding fallen twigs. He'd already inadvertently snuck up on a couple squirrels now, sending them skittering off in a flurry when he passed finally into their vision, far too close for comfort. This was good in a way- should he come across any unfavorable activity in his scouting through the dense forrest, there was less of a chance of him being discovered and more of a chance that he may have the element of surprise should he need it.
Every sensation was heightened in the survivor's mind, and in particular the ones of hearing, sight, and smell were being strained. With the next small shift in scenery, those pallid blue eyes busily assessed any visible dangers from the tops of the trees to the roots-- which is how he first spotted her. Now, there was nothing wrong with a sleeping animal in the middle of the forrest, and from what he could spot of her side that was what she was doing. There was, however, something wrong about a bleeding one. The stench of blood came foul and familiar to his nostrils, nothing metallic like it must taste. Leon could recall swallowing a lot of his own blood- you could swallow two pints of blood before you had to be sick. Now he was wondering just how serious this was.
Padding over quietly, just in case she was really sleeping and had only managed to nick herself on a branch on the way, the blonde craned his head over the strangely-clothed kitsu. Not that he was much better- those tight black clothes beneath his bomber jacket weren't exactly strolling clothes.
After a moment of studying, the male began to feel a sickening sort of feeling clawing at his stomach, beginning to work its way up his throat so it was hard to swallow. There was blood caked over one side of her face and hair as if she'd hit her head hard on something, dried enough that he knew it wasn't fresh. And she wasn't breathing.
Taking in a slow, now painful breath of his own, a gloved paw reaching forward to brush the stained indigo hair away from her face tenderly. She was pale and cold- she had been dead for too long, though rot had not reached her just yet. Despite not knowing her at all, the agent was beginning to feel sorrow for this poor woman, whom he assumed had fallen out of the tree and laid down to die after the mortal wound. And while every instinct in him told him to move away before it reared up and bit him, Leon was blatantly ignorant. This wasn't that place.

One touch. A single touch to the frigid skin was all it took to bind her to this world in absolution. And to reawaken the long numbed pain of her injuries. A hiss escaped her maw, and her teeth and eyes clenched at the jolt of waking. The ringing had stopped, and in its wake was tingling numbness and burning pains. Consciousness soon flooded her being and revived her senses. Alertness was a slow charge to her sluggish form. The smell of blood.....what had happened?
Brows furrowed before eyes slowly open, struggling against blood crusted skin. Two, hazy eyes finally opened, escaping the darkness of slumber. Only to be shrouded in confusion at her new surroundings. Where was she? No moment was given to her to think, as tapping her mind for information left her wincing and lightheaded. She didn't cry out, instead only clenching her jaw at the migraine. Enemies may still be around, and any useless cries were things to be avoided. Eyes remained forward in confusion and her form remained still in hesitance, trying to understand the why's and how's of her whereabouts.
How long have I been passed out? With her mind refusing to cooperate, Setsu could only focus on the details of now. Not much to go on, except that her body ached and that she was obviously in new terrain. Her posture against the tree left her with limited view, hearing and seeing nothing more than birds. And she was aggravated to find that her body was too numb to respond to her commands. Damn it all. She sneered at her own weakness, praying at the very least that her friends were okay. Wherever they were.
Enough time was wasted already, and Setsu made effort to move her body. Limbs twitched in disuse, as if they were nothing more than plants with dislodged roots. Her neck turned stiffly, before a shadow caught her now extended peripheral vision. Eyes darted to the intruder standing so near to her weakened and tense form. Glazed and vacant orbs revealed nothing more than a cautious glare; the right eye deep purple, the left crimson red.

The hiss made him twitch away in surprise. He'd been trying to think of somewhere secure where he could bury her and it had broken his thoughts. Noises from a corpse, he tried to assure himself, were nothing unusual. Organs still held in air even when long past dead- maybe the lungs had finally collapsed or some such. But when he looked back at her again, he found himself staring right back into another pair of groggy eyes.
In one shift, he had quite literally leapt backwards, legs still bent as if ready for an attack. His ears lowered back against his skull, and the eyes that had once regarded her with a soft sympathy hardened to cold and dangerous. "You were dead." It almost seemed an accusation more than a statement, its timber deep yet restrained with disbelief. Disbelief that he had to see more of these living dead things- had to be reminded. Leon had no good experiences with dead things. The one red eye was enough to make his neck bristle, as well as the golden tips of his tails. He was also thinking of what Luis Sera had told him, of the types of things that had chased after him having red eyes. One thing was for sure- Setsu had better do something quickly, as the male was beginning to eye her as if trying to decide just how he was going to have to go about taking her down.

Barely a moment had passed, before the strange being beside her leapt back in a sudden blur. Eyes widened a fraction when the other finally held his ground, and Setsu was able to take in details. What was that thing? Never before had she seen such a...canine? Stranger than that was that it wore clothing of man. Clothing that seemed created for the purpose of carrying weapons of sorts.
Speaking of weapons, Setsu's hip felt bare without a familiar weight set upon it. Eyes turned briefly away from the stranger, confirming that her sole weapon was indeed missing. A frown flitted her lips before something else caught her eye, swiping her face in utter shock. Three tails rested beside her, trailing her eyes from their tips to her own limp hands. Mouth fell agape, finding her form to be covered in fur, similiar to the stranger before her. She could even feel the strange weight of long ears hanging near her shoulders. What cruel reality was this?!?
A voice broke her thoughts, and she was shocked to discover that it came from the three-tailed being. She ignored his words, returning his glare with a stone faced stare. Not good. Just revived, and she was already facing trouble. And the analyzing look she was getting was none other than that of an enemy. Her body shuttered in effort, and she twisted so her back rested fully on the tree, now able to face the tan creature. She bowed her head, calculating the distance between herself and her sword should she need it. "Thanks for the reminder. Now where the hell am I?" More like what the hell had she become....

That was right- it was quite perfect for weapons. He had a gun, though he couldn't use it for obvious reasons. The knife against his shoulder now was a different story, though it was still quite difficult to manipulate. By now those pockets were mostly used for herbs or empty, and Leon had pretty much accepted that he was going to have to use his physical defenses -which weren't shabby at all, as Setsu might find out soon enough- if he was going to have to fight. As she went about gawking at herself, the aforementioned blonde shifted uncomfortably within the aforementioned garments, suspicious. Just what was she trying to do? He wasn't going to be fooled easily...
As she looked at him in pure shock, he felt the first touches of hesitance. That wasn't like any zombie he'd come across, to express such things if anything at all. But she was dead- of this he was certain. She COULDN'T be good. His stare only narrowed a bit more at the question, but it bought her time.
"You're not anywhere close to civilization. I'd say look around and take a wild guess. Now, if you don't mind, I'll be the one asking the questions." A bit domineering, wasn't he? He was watching her carefully, so if she made a move for whatever it was... "You're not here to hurt anyone, are you?" Because that was really the most important thing at the moment, however odd it may have seemed. He'd never interrogated the dead before.

Eyes remained trained on her small sword, before lids closed over them and she leaned her head back upon the tree. Would such a form find use in the hand weapon? She clenched her paws weakly, now concerned if this was a permanent change to her body. Even if not, she'd have to conform to it in order to survive. Nothing to her knowledge made any sense of this reality, or how she came to be here.
Still moments passed before she reopened tired eyes. Whatever had happened, she was stuck here now. In a foreign body that she struggled to understand and control. An occassional shudder at the end of her limbs proved her efforts in adjustment, though too slow for her liking. Ignoring the smell and sting of blood across her face, she peered blankly back to the other. His humor was not something she delighted in, nor the way his tone carried him in a way of one with the upper hand. The fact that she was indeed away from population was both comfotring and disturbing. No threat of meeting unwanted familiars, at the loss of finding a place to recover.
Ears perked forward at his strange question, one not expected from the femme. Was she in neutral terrain? Or was there indeed a conflict in these lands that required such suspicion? Then again, she wasn't in the best of wear for a cheery encounters. "Only in self defense." Brows twitched and she tilted her head, finally getting a response from her body. Her tails twisted uncertainly, before moving across the gravel like a heavy snake to curl around her side protectively. Progress at last.

Leon knew nothing of what she was going through now- all he knew was what she displayed, both in body language and in her words. And since both were so limited, he was still highly suspicious and on edge. To say he had the upper hand was a bit too cocky, even for him. What he did know was that he wasn't a pushover under normal circumstances, and that while he had her backed against a tree he might have some leverage if he needed it. But he did not underestimate her- he considered that she may just be acting in her sluggishness and could leap at him, and he was prepared for such. But then, she just may not be all that natural if she was still functioning in a dead body; an attack like that he couldn't be ready for, but he could be alert.
Her response kept his hard stare on her, if somewhat more as he tried to tell if she were lying or not. He would move on. "Why are you still moving? Did someone revive you to that state? You're not... craving flesh or organs, are you?" Because that was totally NOT a weird question. Now granted, Leon had never run across anything undead that wouldn't eat another of its own species. His eyes followed the sweeping tails, his own held stiff behind him.

"That's...quite disgusting." Who in their right mind would crave such things? Savage, brainless creatures no doubt. But, she still had no idea the ways of this form she now became. Was that a common occurance for these creatures? Maw twitched, ideas of cannibalism flitting through her aching head.
Setsu sat back to observe the other, before she was willing to chance that he was on the defensive only. "Still moving..." Even with a sluggish body, she was determined to protect herself. And get answers. Carefully, she slouched forward, placing front paws upon the ground. The position was awkward, but she doubted she could last long attempting to stand on two limbs. With a heave, she pushed herself up on her back legs as well, numb paws searching for a steady foothold. All the while her eyes keeping a wary alertness to the male. Utilizing her tails as balances, Setsu decided on answering in hopes of getting somewhere, other than lost. "I have unfinished business. As to my revival, you have my gratitude." Else she'd surely be trapped in that dreamless coma.

"Yeah? Well so is a moving corpse. Things like that -things like you- tend to be pretty nasty." Being pretty nasty yourself, weren't you, Leon? But the male was simply on edge, and when he was walking such a thin line he tended to get pretty rude. It was a step up from actually snapping at her, though. More and more he was beginning to believe that maybe he was meeting a new version of undead. Until he got to that point, though, he had to rely on what he knew of the things he'd already come across. Like mutation- was that horn on her head some sort of mutation? Though, she was much more... tame than what he was used to. Besides that horn she seemed pretty normal, and her ability to speak ruled her out from being a normal zombie. Then again, that other corpse thing could talk too, and he had almost hurt someone who had become what Leon now considered to be a partner of sorts. That was something he had to consider.
"Unfinished business. Care to tell me what that is?" Nosey, too. And to think that he was usually quite charming! Though at the last bit, he blinked, shaking his head. "I didn't bring you back to life. I just came to check if I could help... Too late now, though, probably by about a couple days by the looks of you."

His words stung, but she had been through enough to just shrug them off with a sneer. She had more to worry about now than what one individual thought. "Call me whatever you like, I'm still here."
She sat back on her haunches, trying to reserve what strength she had formed. And her body was protesting dearly, being pushed too far too soon. But she was stubborn, and instead only allowed her ears to sag. Eyes blinked when the male glanced above her head, and a paw shakily followed up to her hair. So, one was gone. No wonder she felt so tipsy, literally as well. Her paw moved back down to the ground, residue of blood clinging to it before she wiped it against the ground. Her maw stretched in a frown, wincing as her head pounded from his continued questioning.
"Why not...I have all the time in the world." Such things as tending her injuries, finding her friends and figuring out this land? Oh, those things could wait. If she could maintain from passing out. At the very least she hoped to get some answers from this local, if she could find a means of cooperation. "The one who did this," and she pointed a paw to her bloody scalp, "I'm obliged to return the favor." Her words dripped with bitterness at the memory. Maybe after she reclaimed her twin horn, she could leave this realm. Speaking of which... "I see. Then I suppose you can tell me why I'm no longer human?" The issue of coming back to life was something she'd never cross. It wasn't a lie when he said it'd been days too late. She'd been in this state since before her...little bloody nap there.

Either Leon was oblivious to how much his words could hurt, or he was being intentionally callous. Even though she might look alright aside from the pale skin and the blood, he was aware that monsters wore many skins. He couldn't help but notice how heavily she was depending on that tree right now, as if she couldn't hold her own weight yet like some newborn. Had she been mortal, he would offer her support. Now he was wary of her, and silently marveling at death's new trick of creating something half-decent to look at. His jaw merely tightened when she touched her head as if not knowing.
The first of her answers got no rise out of him if it was sarcasm. "You don't think they did it for self defense?" He implored, not gathering any more assumptions for the moment, but putting out the possibility. He already knew, though, that she would say something along the lines that she was harmless. Denying was the easiest way to lie. Lying was what the supernatural would specialize in his opinion, if they could talk. The supernatural in his mind was evil. And he'd yet to be proven wrong.
He blinked at her dare of sorts, momentarily confused. What? She was suggesting she was a human before? Somehow... the notion did not seem impossible to the blonde, even though it should have screamed it. He had been a kitsu for as long as he could remember, though what he did remember only went back a few months. The rest were dreams it seemed. Or were they? Leon didn't like to dwell on it- they were not happy memories. "Just as easily as I can give you an explanation of why you haven't stayed dead. Maybe you're, hmm, insane? Just a little? Whoever it was might have just clocked you hard enough to give you dementia." He shook his head suddenly, not knowing what he was still doing talking to her. But now that he had this much, he knew he wouldn't be able to kill her easily. She didn't SEEM hostile.
"Come on, I know a place nearby you can wash off..." He shifted his head in a 'let's go' gesture, expecting her to move. "But no sudden moves. I'll assume you're attacking." Yes, he was quite serious.

Glazed eyes widened at the male's question, one that she had not expected at all. Self defense? Her throat itched silently, before a dry chuckle escaped her tired body. Giving her head a slow shake so as not to get dizzy, she raised amused eyes to the other. "I highly doubt such a situation. We knew each other's grounds and motives, but I never expected such an underhanded attack." Her maw fell into a dissappointed line. "I prefer honest combats between enemies, not cowardly back stabbing." What a yellow-bellied way to prove strength.
His silence to her own question gave her time to regain her bearings. The aches were beginning to fade, and she was eager to become adjusted and in control of this new form. Her first goal, reclaim her katana. Ears flicked back to the blonde as he finally came up with a response. His sarcasm received a glare of two hues. As much as he was wary of her, she was wary of this place in a whole. It's inhabitants, it's landscape, her very confusion of even being alive. To a degree. All she seeked was straight answers, and this stranger decided to be comical. "Do you find humor in picking on the injured? How courteous of you." Why bother wasting time talking at all, if all she'd receive were insults. Her eyes closed, indigo hair falling over her face as she seeked some peace within herself. She found none.
She lifted her pale face at his summoning, eager to atleast get refreshed from this bloody mess. The threats of infection or worse were still something she didn't dare bother to experience in this state. The edge of her lip lifted in a grin. "Sudden movements? I wouldn't dream of it." She didn't even think she could if she wanted. But, it has been said that determination gets people far. Legs moved out to stand, and when she was steady she headed to her small weapon. Front paw grabbed it awkwardly, retying it securely in her belt. Purple tails swaying, she turned to follow the cocky male. "And what should I call you, stranger?" So far, jerk seemed to suit him well. But that would be too quick an assumption.

An ear tilted slightly at the answer. It was exactly what he expected... yet still he was somewhat surprised. That coming from someone like her... But when she became snappish, all of the thoughts that could have been fled. Instinctively, he pinned his ears as well, a growl pulsing behind his tone as he replied. "Do you see me laughing? You're not injured; you're dead and potentially a danger to society. Just be glad I don't think it's necessary to finish you off."
Guilty until proven innocent seemed to be the case. The half-grin effectively ruffled him, the fur of his tails beginning to raise. With an irritable flick, he turned slightly to the side and watched as she picked up her katana. "Here, to the side, where I can keep an eye on you," With that, he began to walk in long strides, unaware of her slugishness and pain. "Leon Kennedy. You got a name too, zombie woman?"

Not injured? Heh, last she checked, being dead was not something to shrug off as a sprain. Her own posture reacted to the tone of his response, ears flitting back angrily and eyes glinting. "Necessary? If I was to go by offense alone, you'd be the one finished." Patience was something she tried to bless herself with, and this meeting here was an important test, if not acknowledged aloud. And what did she care of this strange society? She was hoping to get back to her own as soon as possible. So long as they didn't cross paths in unfriendly manners, things would go smoothly.
She couldn't help but grin to herself though, seeing his nerves visibly shaken. Better to have the other on their toes as much as herself. The name was logged away with a blink, as she padded as smoothly as she could. Not too easy with four legs, all stiff from a long slumber and first use. No need to cause a flury, and she distantly placed herself off to the side, giving them equal 'ranks', so to speak. "Fine, Mr. Kennedy." Maw twitched at his own choice of nicknaming. "Setsu. ....Just Setsu."
