I am about 3 weeks from my due date. I came two weeks early and my dad was born early too, so I'm nervous about when the baby is going to come.

Can anyone share their labor experiences, what the hospital stay was like, what it felt like, how you knew it was time, etc.

Thanks whee

Honestly, I had no idea what to expect when I went into labor. I actually didn't know what it was when it was happening. I just thought I was hurting for, well.. I didn't know why, but I didn't think it was labor, lol. Everything I ever read said that it would hurt higher up, and across the whole belly, and if it was just lower, that was Braxton-Hicks. I really had no idea, man, I just felt BAD, but not always. Again, what I read had said that it would probably feel alot like cramping, but worse. Lucky me, I don't cramp, I get back pain, so I really thought I'd feel my contractions in my back. DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT ANYONE HAS TO SAY ABOUT WHAT IT WILL FEEL LIKE!! it's always different. If it comes and goes and comes again, start to time it. It's not nearly as bad as you'd imagine. I was terrified, mortified even, before it happened. I'm sure that I could have gone my whole labor without an epudural, but man, I loved it. Lol, first thing I said was, "man, I'm hungry... can I have anything?" I got an orange twin-pop, and poked at my legs while I made a few calls. It was the best, lol.... even if they did put it in RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONTRACTION!!!!!! >_<### lol

The early onset for me was really just a feeling of severe discomfort. When I sat down for lunch, I couldn't get comfortable, and didn't really want all of my food (ate it all anyway! lol... thought it would help.. ^^;; ) My employees noticed that I was really starting to look like I was in pain at the end of my shift, and told me to time it. Here's the problem with being a manager - I was too busy to keep up with it xd . I went home and tried to lay down, hoping that would help - made things WAAAAAAAAAAYYY worse. Sat up, still hurt like hell. sat on the couch, finally timed it. 2min contractions, 3-5 min apart. We actually went to the hospital for Tom, my tummy issues were really a side note. We called the Dr on the way, just to be safe, though. He thought it would be Braxton-Hicks, and that I'd be back home in no time. Of course, I'd been 2cm for about 2 weeks, so I don't know what made the crazy man think that... lol

Honestly, it was some of the worst pain I'd ever been in, but it's a different sort of pain. It's something that the female body is equipped to handle. My epidural was as late in the game as I could get it, so I was feeling some pretty bad pangs. I was passing out in between contractions, waking just enough to really feel the pain. Had I not had my epidural, I am certain that my active labor would have been at least 1 1/2 hrs shorter (was only about 3 anyway, after my water broke lol). It was bad, but also something that I realized was not the worst thing I could ever feel. Not so bad, really 3nodding

sorry for rambling.... rofl

Personally it wasn't that bad to me. It hurt but it wan't too bad.

I got up at 3am to use the rest room because of all the pressure. Then after going to the restroom I started feeling pain. I wasn't sure if I was in labor (since it was 2 weeks early). I got my husband up and asked him to help me get things together in case it was. So for an hour I would fold baby close and have a contraction every 5 minutes. Although if I held still the pain wasn't that bad.

Once I got to the hospital the pain had got more intense and had to get in a certain position to have the back feel ok (I personally was having back cramps so tl sit or lay on my back hurt).

I was looking at all the other women coming in there and felt like I was such a wimp because they walked in there and I kept having contractions every 2 minutes and these girls were just walking all normal.

So the nurse checked me and I was dialated to a 7 at 5am.

I kept thinking it was going to take another 12 hours of this. Then I had an epideral and the nurse checked me right after I had it I was dialated to a 9 and I really shouldn't of had a one.

Next time I'm going to try to go all natural.

So no horror stories here. I have a high pain tolerance.

Thanks for sharing, guys.

I haven't had any contractions yet, not even Braxton-Hicks ones. Last time my doctor checked I wasn't dilated yet. I'm so nervous whee

Honestly, it really does hurt, but it's just a "very uncomfortable to the point of hurt" kinda thing, if that makes sense. I mean, I worked a full day in labor for all but an hour of it. And at the time, I was a CSM at Wal-Mart (price checks, carry me this, bring me change for that, bend down, lock it up, bend down, take it back out, ran a register for a while that day, too.... uggh... but it really wasn't awful, just enough to make me grimace a little bit, lol. heart I definitely will do a natural birth next time (if I have another, hehe). Though, the epidural was fun... (I really had trouble focusing on my contractions, I was having too much fun playing with my numb legs! xd rofl )

Don't worry, Gossy, you can do it no problem! heart

Um I know from experience that after 36 weeks u are okay to have the baby, and ur due date is a rough guess its like between this date and this date, thats when it should happen, but like 90 percent of the time it nevers does!
Dont worry, even though i was a had to be induced, they said maybe a day or two and she wasnt born for 4 days! Just remember that no matter when they are born, as long as they are healthy! I was about a week and a half early and my baby now is healthy, happy and growing like a weed, so just dont worry u are in the clear of having a great baby!

wwell my daughter was two weeks late..so i was induced.

I highly reconmend it lol. It was so relaxed and easy..i mean we packed..ate dinner on the way to hospital. Checked in..stayed the night (granted i didn't get any sleep lol)
and they broke my water at like..10am.

from then on it was pretty easy cause i was going to try togo natural ..till i felt my first contraction. Luckily for me , i was able to get a epidural with in like ten mins after i asked for one.

so i slept most of the day , having amazing full hullicination type dreams haha..then around 8 i felt likei needed to push and 45mins later my lil girl was here.

now. it hurts. the best way to discribe is..you feel like your rectum is going to explode.
The funny thing in my case was..no one told me what I was going to feel like when i was indeed full blown labor...so i just thought I needed to poo or pass gas really bad and I couldn't cause of the epidural. lol

Anywho! I did end up having to have a epsiodomy..which was really the worst part. That hurt sooo badly it was crazy..especially after when they were stitching me up.

Little tip though, don't scream during labor. I know seems like a silly thing to say but , i was screaming bloody murder and crying cause it hurt so bad.lol(even with the epidural...it still hurts..just tramendious pressure)
Then they told me not to and focus all of that on getting it over with..and it worked.

so yea..I guess thats my story..It wasn't that bad..i didn't hurt or anything afterwards. I went home the next day , went out to dinner with my daughter on the way home from the hospital and walked around walmart a bit lol. Even with stitches i did fine. Though, i got a cold afterward...and that caused some problems with my stitches healing cause of my cough. but yea..^.^

I know all will go well for you though. Good luck darlin <3

Due to the crappy doctor I had the first pregnancy, I took Fetenol, the Epidural, and Demerol during my labor... I was so out of it... I remember pushing, I remember how hard it was for his shoulders to get through, but then all I can recall is that I sounded like a broken record saying "He's so cute!!" over and over and over.

My husband constantly jokes when I say that labor wasn't too bad, that I have no room to talk because I was so drugged up.

both my son and I had a hard time recovering from being so out of it ... but were just fine now and with my son that's expected this October, I plan to get the epidural but NOTHING else.
