Eh, just wondering why everyone bashes Halo. Personally, I enjoy playing it, especially when you have a group of friends over and everyones just omgwtfpooning each other. And I can understand about the whole fan club s**t it has going on, but it happens with all big games *COUGHFINALFANTASYCOUGH*
But other than the Fanwanks, why does everyone bash it?

Several factors influence it.
1. It's horribly overhyped
2. People have no life and just do it because they can't get no pussay
3. They simply don't like the game, which leads to factor 2.

It is kind of overhyped. It's still fun, but it's not life changing. You're not having an a*****e baby, or something. e.e

Well, us VGD regulars and gaming "Experts" we like to call ourselves (At least I do, anyway...>.>; ) don't like Halo because of exactly HOW over-hyped it is. To this very day, we see Halo threads being posted. Threads that have been up before, have fallen, and have been re-created multiple times. It's just like KH and FF. Although most of us will admit - Myself included - I LOVE playing Halo, but it's getting WAY too much credit than it's worth. It's a good game. The first good FPS game for the 'Current Gen', and I think that it's because of that that it's hyped to the point that it is. I mean...FarCry is a better game to me, and if that one had came before Halo, then it'd be FarCry we'd be hating now. Not Halo.

Thats because Counter Strike is not horribly overrated like Halo.

Halo if you ask me is a "party shooter". Great for multiplayer with friends or online, nothing too serious (even though there are people who do take serious strategy into mind)

SHlTLESS I just realized you never hear anyone bash Counter Strike. o_o actually no, I get it ALL the time. It's really annoying cuz it's only about the people. I'd be pissed if I still played as religiously as I used to.

Meh - Alright. I do actually really like halo, but...
I must agree, it is very hyped, but not too much as everyone is so keen on stating. The game is only so hyped because the population made it so, and however biased my idea may be, with good reason. Personally, I think the only reason Halo made it so far is the fact that the game itself is so simplistic. The controls are simply and easy to remember, and there are very few variables. The majority of the people do not like variable in a game. If A then B, not If A, then maybe B C D or E. The maps are solid in their design - either symmetrical or balanced out in an easy to memorize way. I can hardly say the same for many games.
Back to the hype-ness. I must also add that microsoft had quite a hand in advertising this game to its fullest potential once they realized how popular it was. If some people like it, lets make everyone else like it. Thats just a good business philosophy.
Bah... didn't get much covered, but... there you go.
