Now I know there have been some pretty sad places in the show. I just want to know what other people's were.
OK so you might not say she "died" but in episode 515 she was infected by Illyria. And although it was still her, it was just sad that the country girl we all learned to love was just kind of... dead.
Please just tell me your guys' saddest point in the show.

I agree that the "passing" of Fred was very depressing. One of the saddest moments for me was when Wesley was dying, and Illyria reverted to "Fred" form for him. It was heartbreaking.

Have you noticed that most of the saddest moments are from the last season? Casue most of the rest they, at least, tried to keep it a bit more up beat.

I think all finales are like that. I mean, epic battle, people die, Joss isn't really into fluffy bunnies and rainbows at the end of the day.
Fred especially, though. There's a girl I skate with, who, I swear, looks exactly like Fred, and even acts like her sometimes, too. So I kind of identified.
I'm also amazed by how well Amy Acker pulled off that total change of character. I thought she was a one-trick actress, but Illyria was surprising. She was able to reinvent all her relationships with the other characters, and even keep a few things the same (i.e. Wesley).

Yeah, Joss seems to start off all comedy and gets real serious towards the end. Compare season one Buffy to season seven. It was the same way.
