And everything is horrible. It kind of sickens me how much I rely on it, so I try sometimes not taking it, and then I end up feeling like this. I've been sleeping a lot and not eating. I talked to my doctor about having a physical addiction to the medication because these are common withdrawal symptoms, but she won't listen to me because they help my mental condition a lot when I do take them. I'm sick of being so reliant on my medication, but there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it.

Yes, drugs like that get into your system, and when they come out, your balance is an imbalance again, so you feel worse sicne you are used to feeling better. Stay on them, it is better for you, when I am off mine I feel apathetic. Just stopping makes everything worse.

i would stay on them for the time being. i know how it feels to pretty much rely on meds for a good mood. it makes me so angry sometimes you know? but maybe you could talk to your doctor, and ask about trying out something different? maybe something that will help, but wont make you feel like your relying on it?

Talk to ur doctor abou reducing ur dosage instead of cutting them completely off
U cant live on them 4eva... u hav to come off them eventually but i think weaning urself off them is better
And dnt get frustrated if u have a bad day.
Jst cos urll feeling low doesnt mean ur relapsing
Give it time

That's the thing. When I don't take at least this dosage, I can't sleep, I lose my appetite, my mood is terrible, et cetera. (I'm on 225mg Effexor and 0.5mg Risperdal by the way.) And every few months or so they have to increase the dosage because it just stops working (I started at 37.5mg in January). The problem is, if I keep taking it, its effectiveness decreases and I'm forced to increase my dosage, and if I stop taking it, I feel terrible. I've been on many different kinds of medication and these are really the only ones that seem to work. I'm just worried that, give it another year or so, and I'll be taking ten pills a day or something. =___=;

hmm. i'm on Effexor as well. just 150 mg's a day. but i think im going to get my doctor to increase it. and if she doesnt..im going to be pissed, because i have noticed that it isnt working the same.

Effexor's kind of new, isn't it?
Maybe its effect just dulls after awhile, maybe we should both look into switching off it?

i'm not sure if its new or not! all i know is that i hadnt heard of it before i got put onto it, which was back in January, of this year. Yeah, im afraid to ask my doctor to switch me though, because i have been on SOOO many different medications. I go see my doctor tomorrow, im going to ask her to raise it, see if maybe that helps me!

Yeah, they put me on it in January too! neutral I think it IS new. It works for awhile, and then it just sort of wanes out, right. Maybe they got the formula wrong.

ahh...well i was just wondering because she just randomly said 225 mgs. so i was wondering if thats the limit. maybe it is here, or maybe thats all she wants to put my up too....for now. i dont know
