Recently, I finished a book called Twilight, by Stephenie Meyers. Its was the most amazing book I have ever read in my whole entire life! YOU MUST READ IT!

I hear other girls talk about this book all the time, and supposedly a movie will be made from it. What is it about this book that makes it amazing? Plot? Characters? Style? Should I take the time to read it or stick with my Gibran?

I liked Twilight, but I'd like it much better if Bella had some kind of controll over what happens to her. I mean, don't you think that it would be cooler if Bella went completely Neo and smoked James, saving them all?

This book was quite a letdown. The story was very unoriginal, in my opinion.

Amen. It didn't live up to the hype at ALL.

"The Dark Knight", however... *wink*

Meh. The plot was not terribly original, as others have pointed out, and frankly, the writing was so mediocre I wouldn't have liked it even it it had had a decent story.

Put all the cliches together and we have a best selling series after *cough* Harry Potter *cough*.

This is just too ... ehh.
I was put off by her constant damsel-in-distress shtick and "omfgEdwardEdwardIwannabeavampireEdwarrrrddd" attitude.

Then came Breaking Dawn and killed the whole series.
I'm actually a little bit glad Meyer was dumb/naïve enough to lend the Midnight Sun draft.

Twilight is the single worst book series that has ever been published. Not only is the idea terribly unoriginal, all four books fail to have plots, the writing is abysmal and filled with purple prose and literary cliches, the characters are two-dimensional and their interactions entirely forced, and the "science" behind everything illogical and contradictory BUT on top of all that, the stories relay consistent messages to readers that it is alright for men to stalk, to be sexually, physically and emotionally abusive, manipulative and controlling, and that women should all be in the kitchen- married, barefoot and pregnant before they turn 19 and are therfore "old".

I can prove any and every point of criticism I have made against these books.

Oh, oh! And 10% of the money you spend on Twilight goes toward such endeavours as "Yes on Prop 8"

I don't like Twilight.
It's bad for all of the reasons that The Ghoul in Pajamas said, and I'ma Buffy fan.

I'm an older user on Gaia, and it was very disturbing for me to see how popular Twilight is among teenagers.

I don't know about that, but I do agree:

It's good to see that you all (I'm sure at least some of you are teens) can see through the book's flaws. Girls around that age get obsessed with the idea of "true love" (I know I was one of 'em), but true love is not obsessing over your man 24/7 and not having a life outside of him. I mean Jesus, couldn't she have made Bella interesting in some way?
