|l STORY l|
Eight paranormal lands, all with a gathering power yet to be explained. For years this has gone on, kept secret as not to attract unwanted attention. Children were born, then abandoned once their capacities were found out. Each land had it’s own sort of divine influence. The mountains with their many powerful ice mages; the woodland, with it’s commanding earthly magic; the grassland, with wind spells; the desert, with fire magic beyond comprehension; the savanna people, with treacherous weather magic; the beings of the rain forest, with spiritual powers such as telepathy, telekinesis and psychic abilities; Saloum, with dark, supernatural hexes; and finally the oceans, with corrupting water charms.
Ever since this discovery has been uncovered, those with ‘unfit’ attributes, even those that are not human, have been sent to the island of Curensis.
Curensis is rather large, with magical barriers to prevent anyone from escaping. It has a piece of everything. Millions of sorcerers, animals and beasts call this island home and have for many hundreds of years; generations upon generations. No where else on earth is there a place like this. The largest city of all houses thousands alone, and is nestled between steep mountain valleys (grassland).
|l SETTINGS l|
MOUNTAINS: (Ice) Cold and remorseless are the mountain regions. The air is thin and freezing nearly all year round, sunlight just barley scraping across the icecaps. Small patches of Himalayan undergrowth salvage the lower peaks. People live in walled cities or rocky towns, down where the vegetation is heavier and the storms less severe.
WOODLAND: (Earth) The woodland is a very peaceful place with a near-perfect balance between sun and rain, light and dark, predator and prey. Oak, birch and ash trees flourish while ferns and brambles mingle with colorful forest flowers. Fruits and berries are also plentiful. Small villages and towns are spread throughout the clearings.
GRASSLAND: (Wind) Many varieties of prairie plants cover the vast, flat spaces of grassland. Tornados and winter blizzards rage without anything to slow them down, flaring until the storms let up. Nomadic natives travel with the herds of animals they feed upon.
DESERT: (Fire) Blistering heat beats against those below with little mercy, save for the freezing nights. A sea of sand and rocky hamadas, few plants can grow in places other then the few oases that dot the landscape. Glasswort and acacia bushes blaze through as date palms bloom overhead. Flowers lay dormant for years, flashing open when, ever so rarely, rainfall appears.
SAVANNA: (Storm) An immense land indeed, the savanna houses many forms of life. Thunderstorms, when they emerge, thrash and burn lone trees and grass. Rain comes down in thick sheets, little being able to shelter the ground below. Baobob trees store water within their massive trunks, rising above the euphorbia trees and ranging grass. Citizens subsist in clutches of towns and villages made of straw huts, many with hunting cats for pets.
RAIN FOREST: (Spirit) Colorful and rich, the tropics are nonetheless chock-full of thousands of different genus. The air is dense with humidity, damp moss and grasses growing among the tea trees and strangler figs. The rain is seemingly endless, drenching as much as possible through the thick braches and rubbery leaves. Vines dangle, brushing against fallen logs and massive roots. Natives live in colossal villages high above the ground to escape danger.
SALOUM: (Unknown) Overcast skies and deserted city streets are the trademark of this dark, ominous place. Ragged weeds and incalculable buildings clutter together, no real trace of sun shining through much of the year. Few animals exist here other then scavengers. Because of the lack of radiance, beasts akin to vampires and less powerful demons prosper well in this environment, feeding upon those daring enough to wander into their midst.
OCEAN: (Water) Reining supreme in size, the oceans stretch widely both across and below. The sun sparkles down through the surface and onto the coral reefs below. Vivid arrays of fish dance through the tides, dolphins and sharks circling each other in their own private wars. Seaweed curls and floats between the rocks, algae mucking up the shoreline. Large, secluded islands serve as their surface land.
