A few weeks ago, my church's pastor did a sermon on God's gifts to His people, typically used to glorify God or spread his word and also good in general.
This was a rather deep sermon, and I must admit that I was absorbed in it, and was left thinking, as he had said we should about our gifts.
I have prayed on the subject myself, but I figured we should also discuss the subject of God's gifts, psychic and non-psychic abilities both.
PS: This was the crazy idea.

God gave everyone gifts for a reason. Some gifts are fantastic (pertaining to fantasy), others are quite realistic. Each is vitally important to humankind. No matter how small, each of our gifts are enormously important. They must be used to glorify God to the best of our abilities.

Exactly. That was actually his main message in the sermon, though I admit I kind of like your simple-but-profound way of saying it a lot.
(Though seriously, I have no clue how some of my gifts can possibly glorify God. But I suppose that is part of what I must find out at some point in my life, it'd be no fun (though admittedly easier, sweatdrop ) if we knew all the answers from the start.)

Thank you for the compliment.
By the way, you aren't the only one, Gatta Forte, who doesn't know the purpose of the gifts given by God. I don't know why God has given me the gift of being a good shot with rifles, or Kung Fu abilities which are apparently amazing. I'm not inclined towards violence at all. But, my talents must influence someone in some sort of way, I suppose. And, if it does, I'm glorifying God, right? Even if all I can do is brighten someone's day, I think I'm glorifying God. Because, that person could influence someone else, couldn't they? And that person could influence another person, and another, and another... Sort of like a butterfly effect. I don't know what's happening, but I beat my wings as hard as I can, and hope it all works out for the best.

Agreed, I think that everyone actually doesn't know the full reasons for their abilities, otherwise, it'd be no fun! ^.^
Seriously, how would one glorify God by picking up a phone with their toes? xD But I guess it's still a ripple effect... and a use of other abilities to help amplify them? Yeah, I'd make many more waves with smarts, kindness, and a near-photographic memory than with a toe-phone-pickup. But God gave even the tiny, bizarre ones to us for a reason too, I guess.

Awe! This thread gives me such a warm fuzzy feeling! I hadn't remembered that part about it, and you guys talking about it made me realize something... or remember something more specifically ^_^ - the parable of the talents. If any of you remember it then you know what i'm talking about. Otherwise in a few days I'll post it here.
