It occurred to me this would be a good place for quiet conversation about flower gardening. smile Discuss and show pictures of your own flower gardens, kinds of flowers you like to grow, flower gardens you have seen that you admired, and methods of flower gardening.

The drought has not been conducive to flower or vegetable gardening either one. Plants are not fond of having city water dumped on them constantly. I can't say I blame them; city water does not taste pleasant.

My person has had considerable problems due to the drought with the plants in the yard. The hardy older shrubs survived the very dry summer. Since the rains lately, all the outdoors plants have been quite happy.
As far as gardening is concerned, she is a fan of large container gardening. Each spring and summer, she plants vegies, herbs and flowers in the half barrel containers (and smaller ones as well) on her deck. Each container is individually watered, which can be tedious at times, but it helps monitor the water usage.
If you want to see some pictures of this past spring/summer "deck crops," go to Pax Romana's profile (one of my person's alter-egos). cool
