Lets start of with a bang shall we? comments welcome <3
Two posts. The first an adventure the second abot my actual riding.

allrighty. It was extremely hot yesterday, so after we had finished working in the ring and on jumps we all decided to get some water. So leslie (our instructor) called down all the moms to bring water. Which they did. Leslie was riding a horse named Aspen who was not her usuall teaching horse because all her teaching horses have been trimmed to short by some bogus guy. Aspen and derby are the only two horses in the barn who are TERRIFIED of water bottles. Derby was abused and spooks every five seconds but i dont know why aspen is afraid. We usually pass the water bottle behind the horses heads with a little spooking but no big problems. This time aspen took off across the ring with leslie bucking and running. She managed to stay on miraculously but wrenched her back pretty badly. She came back and passed destinee her fanta. before we knew it derby had taken off at a full gallop around the ring with her. Her mom was beside the fences screaming for her to drop the bottle, but destinee held on to it like it was her only chance at life, orange soda splashing all over the both of them. Leslie was shouting the usual tips. shoulders back head up heels down. Destinee looked like she was doing really well other than both horse and rider being terrified. she came around a fourth tim and finally hear her mother and dropped the bottle. by the time she had gotten a third of the way around the ring again she was going off the side of the horse but she didnt make it awy fromhim and she fell underneathe his feet with a loud crack (later discoverd to be her helmet cracking. Im fairly sure he stepped on her. She didnt move. For ten long seconds she was completely mostionless. Her mother jumped the fence screaming her name. Finally she moved her hand. After a while they got her rolled over and prodded at her a lot. When she finally stopped screaming they discovered she was probably okay, but had sprained he ankle pretty badly. Leslie carried her all the way up to the fan ith a wrenched back. then layed down in the grass. We havent heard anything since so i suppose shes okay.

POST 1.5

So about the actuall thirty minutes of lesson we managed to get. Normally i ride dimples, the new horse. Shes a bit green at jumping but really calm and has a very nice soft trot. Today abby rode her so she could learn to sit the trot. I rode truffle. Truffle is sort of like the trouble horse. Noone does very well on him except maybe rebecca lever. Leslie says its because none of us steer with seat and leg well enough. But whatever the case, I cannot post his trot very well at all. And every time i miss a post he goes off in some random direction. He is always determined to stay with the horse in front of him, and because i cannot post his trot well enough i just smack him in the back making him trot when he isnt supposed to. Not to mention any time you put ANY pressure on his mouth, he jerks his head down. And he constantly determinedly wanders off to the side to eat grass. Leslie says im a pushover. But i have blisters on my hands from having the reins jerked through them. However, i did get a miniscule bit further along in steering with my legs which probably wouldnt have happed with dimples. Everything welse was a total disaster.

I think it is good that you had to ride Truffle, I mean you learn to do something you aren't used to. It is always good to shake it up a bit :3
My instructor always did that to me, she would put me on one horse and when I learnt to adjust on that horse she would put me on a more challenging horse. And I fell off at least once on all the of the horses. Its great fun! I usually would spend part of my warm up or cool down practicing directing the horse with out reins, it is a good exercise, you learn to use body language over their mouth. Which is handy when your on a touchy horse, like this horse Jamaica... you would just have to think canter and she would, and if you were nervous she would get nervous (cause she is a horse and they can feel it) and if you pulled on her mouth as hard as you could she wouldn't stop.

OMG O_O; is that story true? In your first post? Dang, that is O-o wow... I guess I read about that in books or see it in movies, but never expect it to actually happen. Just wow.

Thankyou for your comment ^_^

yeah, I agree that its good for me to ride truffle every once in a while. THough i havent ridden him since then I feel like im getting a lot better at steering with my weight and my legs. (see next post) I think in a couple of weeks i may even be ready to give truff another go ^_^.

Yes it is completely true. I know exactly what you mean. I never expected anything so serious to happen within my first months of riding.

It turns out destinee is okay now nd may come back to lessons in a couple of weeks. She had a horrible concussion from derby stepping on her head. But other than that and her ankle shes okay.

POST 2

Okay. I skipped a couple of lessons But im only going to talk about last week. Since it was the only signifigantly interesting lesson.

This past thursday was abbys first day of vacation, and from my understanding shes gonna be gone for several weeks. With destinee still recovering that only leaves me. So leslie arranged for a new girl to ride with us on thursday. I dont remember the girls name but it was only her second lesson. We went out in the ring and worked there for a bit. I was riding dimples and having an exceptionaly good day. We stayed in the ring fairly well and I got my trot on the right diagonal nearly every time i tried. However we didnt get to do much trotting, and no cantering at all because the new girl couldnt get her horse to trot steadily, and I kept having to wait behind her. So leslie took us out for a very long trail ride.

I know how hard it is to get the rythmn of posting but this girl astounded me. It seemed like whe wasnt even trying to post. She basically just sat the trot the whole time, only going up out of the saddle on purpose once or twice. She had a rather nice sitting trot though. For what it was. Even when we were going up hills and taking two point, she just sat there, didnt even try. I dont mean to say anything bad about her. Dont get me wrong. I just found it odd i suppose.

Anyways the ride was going well until her horse managed to get behind me and dimples. (most likely because it kept stopping to eat)
And of course dimple began to feel her rear was being imposed upon and got light in the back. prancing and looking back and swishing her tail. She kicked. I threw my hells down and stayed on fairly well. and leslie told me where to go to turn around and get behind the new girls horse so that it didnt happen again. (which i did steering dimples completely with my legs ^_^) things went well other than me having to stop a lot because the new girls horse was eating. Until dimples decided to eat too, and got to close to her horse, who apparantly the though "well you kicked me now its my turn" and kicked dimples while she had her head down. I was totally unprepared for this and one of my feet slid out of the stirrupes as dimples skittered off to the side threatening to take off at a canter. but i took mane and managed to get her calmed down and myself rebalanced miraculously.

The rest of the trail ride was an endless battle of will between me and dimples, who seemed to want the horse in front of us to kick her again. and everytime i used the tinyiest of halfhalts she tossed her head. It was all i could do to keep her at a semisafe distance. After all that steering her away from other horses and working in the ring. I feel about 200% beter at steering with my wieght and legs. I went the whole day bareley using the reins for steering at all.

As for the week before, the only exciting thing was that Emma was there for camp and she finally got to see me ride. She complemented my posting and that made me happy <3

This is a really long post but I really hope youll read it and give your advice =/

POST 3

Okay. Last week as Ive already said dimples was acting up rather badly in my opinion. But that was absolutely nothing compared to this week. There was another camp this week. This time the camp was full of smaller girls there were six or seven of them and one girl my age name brittanny who was a counselor on her own horse. Dimples attempted to bite leslie while saddling up. Then while leslie was fixing my stirrups she tried to attack peter pan (leslies horse) biting visciously at him.

When we rode out I stayed in the back with only brittany and ryan behind me.
But dimples was Throwing her head every other minute. And evertime we trotted. Even though ryan was at least four horse lengths behind us she kept turning back and feeling really light in the back. she even tried to stop and wait so that she could kick him.

Luckily enough brittany could keep him back and I could keep her going. (and the horse in front of us had no interest in kicking though she was determined to shove her nose up his rear) But when we started doing jumps Ryan started bolting ahead into the other horses and then dimples started trying to kick him. We decided not to do any more jumps and managed to keep thing under control for a while. But then we were all going up an extremely steep hill. Ryan decided to bolt up through all the other horses which set dimples off like mad and several other horses too.

After that Brittany took ryan off alone on another trail so that I could focus on keeping dimples from bolting up on her own. Which is exactly what she tried to do when all of her excuses were gone. She would hang back when the other horses woud trot and then try and canter up into them. She bucked and kicked at nothing and was constantly turning to look at horses that werent there. It was all I could do to keep her under control with my 15 hours of riding experience. PLEASE if anyone has ANY advice let me know. I was terrified. you have to understand this used to be the calmest horse at scottsgrove. Brittany says its probably because she has a lot of little girls riding her pulling on her mouth a lot and she thinks she can do whatever she wants. But why does she want to be so mean to other horses? and to people? admitadly being in heat probably has a lot to do with it, but I still dont think thats all of it. =/ please help me EoG.
