DL is undergoing some major REVAMPING and CHANGES. We will no longer accept applications at this point until the majority of changes are complete. Please check back and re-read the rules and explanations as they change. General updates will be posted in the chatterbox as soon as any updates are complete. Pokemon Ranger: Divine Lakes [ A Literate Roleplay ]
A legend as old as time itself involved in the creation of the Sinnoh region. Three beings that symbolize Knowledge, Emotion and Willpower, created from the "Original One". These creatures sleep in the three lakes of Sinnoh, never to be disturbed. As the legend says:
"Three Pokémon there were. Into the lakes they dove. Deep, deep, drawing no breath. Deeper, deeper they dove. Into the suffocating depths they dove. Deeper, then deepest they alight. From the lake floor they rise. Bearing with them the power to make vast lands, they rise again."
Should these three Pokemon ever come together, the bearer of the three would become the most powerful in all the universe. The controller of these three Pokemon would have unlimited power - he would be all knowing, able to control human will and emotion on a single whim, and eternal life. The world would fall into a Dark Age and all existance on Earth, human and Pokemon alike, would disappear.
A band of Rangers known as "Harmonía" has come to protect the creatures of the lake in their eternal slumber to avoid such a catastrophe. Though their other missions seem more light hearted, Harmonía's overall mission is to protect the lakes from evil, like the new crime group Team Dizkord. Who is their leader? Nobody is quite sure where he came from...

Storyboard Members: Mitsuko` Max Slasher [ Yukari ] Mikallen

Note: DL is a story based roleplay. It has a mainstream storyline and plot therefore it is necessary to know the events if you have been absent for a period of time. As it has a mainstream storyline, sub-plots that have not been given an OK by storyboard members will not be tolerated. This includes sub-plots with NPCs. Don't worry we don't bite, . . .much, and will usually say yes. Storyboard members are also open to any suggestions just send a PM or IM to one of us and we'll discuss it.
This roleplay is also VERY loose in a sense and does not hold too much administration about your posts and the like. Things such as captures, post count, partner levels, missions, and more are not strictly enforced. We trust our members to make responsible choices. If you prove yourself not trustworthy we will monitor your charater very strictly, and that's no fun for either of us.

Partner Pokemon
Any and all Rangers need a reliable partner to back them up. Rangers will each go out into the world and find the partner that's perfect for them. Depending on your entrance time to the RP changed how your partner is recived. Please PM Mitsuko` for details when you send the application.
Once you have a partner, you're set to aid those of the Sinnoh region!
Partners have a useful ability that aid’s his or her Ranger in capturing a Pokemon with their stylus. There are to categories to these abilities: Attack and Defense.
Attack Ability: The user pins down the Pokemon, allowing the Ranger a more accurate capture. Less chance of the Pokemon breaking though the stylus's loops.
Defense Ability: Allows the user to power up the stylus' power, aiding in a faster capture. Allows easier captures on Pokemon who normally need several loops before a capture.
A Ranger may have more than one partner Pokemon, though only one may travel around with them at a time. Partner Pokemon can be switched at any Pokemon Center or the Ranger Headquarters.
Another Partner Pokemon may be obtained once you've reached Ranger Rank 5. Each Pokemon must reach level 20 before a new partner is acquired.
If you meet these requirements and would like another partner Pokemon then PM/contact Mitsuko` and we'll set the details down.

Pokemon Assists
Each Pokemon will have some sort of ability to help you out. There are 2 different types of assists that will help you depending on your situation.
One of the 2 classes of assist are field assists. These will help you outside of battle and may not be used during battle. Examples of these occasions where these assist are needed are cutting fences, melting ice/snow, or moving a fallen tree. Below are the list of field assists.
Also once a field assist is used the Pokemon will return to it's home. If you need another Pokemon with the same assist, then you'll need to capture another. Field Assists Cut - You can use cut on fences, shrubs and others that are similar to these kinds of obstacles. >> Any Pokemon that can learn Cut in game or is possible of the task. Tackle - You can use tackle on trees and other heavy objects. >> Any Pokemon that has the ability to tackle, or ram themselves at an object. The larger the object the larger the Pokemon need. While there may be acceptations, please just use common sense. Burn - You can use burn on fallen logs and bundled hay. >> Any Fire Pokemon or Pokemon that may know fire attacks. Wild Pokemon that may learn them though TMs don't count, since they obviously haven't had a TM used on them. Soak - You can use soak to put out fires. >> Any Water Pokemon or Pokemon that may know a Water attack. Wild Pokemon that may learn them though TMs don't count, since they obviously haven't had a TM used on them. Crush - You can crush near broken cave/tunnel walls and boulders. >> Rock, Ground, and Fighting types are capable of using Crush. Any attack with enough force behind it will also get the job done. Please be reasonable. Gust - You can use gust to blow things away. >> Flying type Pokemon or Pokemon with the ability to use create strong winds such a Flygon. Fly - Fly across cannons or high obstacles. Fly may also be used to bring you to towns that you have previously visited before. >> Flying Pokemon and Pokemon that can fly only. Be reasonable though, since some Pokemon wouldn't be able to carry you anywhere. (ie. Butterfree or a Pidgey.) Flash - You can use flash to light up dark places like caves or tunnels. >> Electric Pokemon, or Pokemon that is able to generate some type of light. Get creative; yet stay reasonable at the same time. (ie. A Charmander's tail.) Surf - Surf across lakes, oceans, rivers, etc. It can be used as a means of travel. >> Any Pokemon that can learn Surf in game or seems reasonable at completeing the job. Rock Climb - Scale high mountainsides. >> Any Pokemon that can learn Rock Climb in game. Waterfall - Climb up waterfalls. >> Any Pokemon that can learn Waterfall in game. Strength - Push large rocks and boulders around that are unbreakable. >> Any Pokemon that can learn Strength in game or seems capable of doing the job. Defog - Clear cloudy areas. >> Any Pokemon that can learn Defog in game or create strong gusts. Clearly many of you can find loopholes and the like within the field assists. Please just be reasonable and responsible. We trust your ability to judge most of these field assist by yourself. If you are unsure of any of these, please feel free to ask in the OCC thread or PM an RP moderator.
The second type of assists is the ones that are used in battle. Each type of Pokemon will have a different ability depending on its type. Some duel type Pokemon will be capable of 2 different battle assists (Though some won't be. Use your common sense!), though one may only be used.
These assists may be used to help you capture a Pokemon, but they will never defeat a Pokemon, so keep that in mind.
Some assists will also prove ineffective against certain types of Pokemon while some will be super effective. The types each have their own weaknesses and strengths depend on what type they are put up against. In a way they are like attacks used against Pokemon, but don't have the ability to knock them out. (ie: A Poison assist won't work on a Steelix, and a Water assist will be super effective against a Houndoom.)
Also once a battle assist is used the Pokemon will return to it's home. If you need another Pokemon with the same assist, then you'll need to capture another.
Note that these assists are not required to be used when capturing a Pokemon. Capturing a Pokemon can be done without Battle assists. So if you find these too troublesome then please disregard them. Some missions, however, may require that these be used.
Below are the assists that belong to each type of Pokemon. The assist's typing strengths and weaknesses are exactly the same as they are in game. Battle Assists Bug>> Creates a sticky like substance that temporarily renders the Pokemon unable to move. Dark>> Temporarily blinds the opponent making it unable to attack. Dragon>> Turns the capture line into a dragonic fire making it extremely hard for the Pokemon to move, if at all. Electric>> Paralyzes the Pokemon. Fighting>> Speeds up the capture line making it extremely easy to capture Pokemon. Fire >> Turns the capture line into fire making it extremely hard for the Pokemon to move. Flying >> Creates Whirlwinds that trap and immobilize the Pokemon. Ghost>> The ghost pokemon clings to the other pokemon holding it still momentarily. Grass>> Block a Pokemon's path with tall grass to make captures easier. Ground >> The ground comes up making the pokemon unable to escape a certain area. Ice>> Freeze surroundings, making it harder for Pokemon to move. Normal>> Poison>> Traps Pokemon in poisonious gas. Renders the Pokemon unable to attack. Psychic>> Holds the Pokemon stationary. Rock>> Throws rock and gravel at the other pokemon. If it the pokemon will be stunned Steel>> Temporarily makes it so that it takes two hits for a pokemon to break through a capture ring. Water>> Create bubbles, waves, and columns of water that trap the Pokemon.

Partner Attacks/Moves
Your partner's Pokemon will need attacks to fight and help out with capturing Pokemon. These attacks can be used as field moves as well. (An Absol who knows Water Pulse can use the attack to put out a fire.) These attacks can be learned in a number of ways. >> Pokemon may learn all their attacks from leveling up. This means choosing evolution carefully, for some Pokemon learn moves sooner or later, or not at all depending on their evolution. >> Level-up moves will be following the Diamond and Pearl games. >> TMs and HMs can be learned in the usual way. Disks and payment are a must! >> Egg moves are only available when you send in your applications and will be give the OK after discussion with one of the mods. Egg moves MAY be available later. >> A single Pokemon may learn up to a combined 5 of TMs and HMs moves. Egg moves are not included within this limit. >> Move deleters can be found at the usual place in the games, and they will cost two (2) mission points per move deleted. >> Heart Scales can also be used to restore a Pokemon's past moves. If you do not have a heart scale then you'll have to pay a total of three (3) mission points.

Leveling Up and Evolutions
To progress any further you're Pokemon will have to face stronger Pokemon and gain new attacks and even new forms. Pokemon evolve a number of different ways, below will explain each one to you.
Experience
As you complete missions with your partner Pokemon the more and more experience they will earn. Each starter Pokemon begins at level 5.
To level up your partner you will need mission points equal to half of their level. If the current level is an odd number than the amount of mission points will be rounded down. Mission points do not need to be spent on levels such as they do on items, the fact that you have earned them is enough.
Ex: A level 10 Bulbasaur would need 5 mission points to gain the next level. Ex: A level 15 Charmander would need 7.5 mission points to level up, rounding down that would be a total of 7 mission points.
Once they reach a certain level they are able to evolve. You are not require to evolve you're Pokemon if you do not wish too, but if you do then it's up to you on how and when it's done.
Mitsuko` will be keeping track of the mission points you earn and regularly update them. You will need to check your character profiles every once in a while to see your Pokemon's new levels, attacks it may have gained, etc.
Evolutions
Aside from the normal level up evolution there are several other ways to evolve your Pokemon. You are not require to evolve you're Pokemon if you do not wish too, but if you do then it's up to you on how and when it's done.
Stone Evolution requires the proper stones for doing so. Fire, Thunder, Water, and Leaf Stones can each be obtained in the shop at the Ranger Headquarters so long as you have the proper amount of mission points to purchase them.
Evolution pertaining to tameness/friendship will take much, much longer to accomplish. The Pokemon in question must be treated with utmost care and love. If you think your Pokemon is ready to evolve via this method, PM one of the RP moderators, and we will let you know if your Pokemon is ready or not.
Pokemon that evolve through being traded will still evolve in this manner. Simply ask another character (in character, please!) if they will help you to evolve your Pokemon. This may be done in any Pokemon Center.
Pokemon that evolve when traded while holding specific items will work in the same manner as Trade-Evolution, only you must acquire the proper held item and give it to the Pokemon before trading. These special evolution items are available at the shop located at the ranger Headquarter.
Gender evolution will, of course, require you to have the Pokemon of the correct gender. Once they’ve reached proper level/used the proper stone they will evolve.
Attached Items and Level Up evolution are exactly what they sound like. These items can be obtained at the shop within the Ranger Headquarters for a set amount of mission points. Once the item is obtained and given to the Pokemon they will require one level up before evolution is possible.
Area Based evolution will require the correct Pokemon and area. Once this is achieved the Pokemon is required to level up once before evolution is possible.
Attack Based Evolution will require the correct Pokemon and attack. Once this is achieved the Pokemon is required to level up once before evolution is possible.
Mantyke evolution will require an additional partner Pokemon in your team. This can only be achieved if you have met the required conditions. Please check the Partner Pokemon and Ranger Rank posts if you aren’t familiar with these said circumstances. A Remoraid is needed for Mantyke’s evolution. Mantyke is then required to level up before evolution is possible.
Day/Night evolutions can be achieved the same way as the Happiness/Friendship evolution and during the correct time of day.

Pokemon Captures, Battles, and Assists
During one of your to be many mission you'll probably need a Pokemon to assist you along the way. Perhaps to put out a burning fire, or move some fallen trees.
While your partner Pokemon maybe be able to accomplish any one of these tasks, there is also the possibility that they cannot. And here is where you'll need your trusty stylus and some battling skills.
How to Capture Using the Stylus
To capture a Pokemon for the use of their assist you must first have your partner battle them. The battle will weaken the Pokemon and that's when you may use your stylus to capture the Pokemon. Be careful not to KO the Pokemon otherwise you'll have to find another to capture.
Sometimes, however, the Pokemon may be tough and you'll need an extra bit of help from your partner. When attempting to capture a Pokemon your partner Pokemon can execute it's Capture Ability. Depending of whether it's a defense ability or an attack will determine the outcome effect.
Now, not all Pokemon will be easily captured with the stylus and Capture ability alone. They may break out of the loops you're creating and you'll have to start all over. The bigger, tougher, and faster the Pokemon are the harder they will be to capture.
When you attempt to capture a Pokemon, make sure you leave it at the end of the post. One of the moderators will determine whether you are successful or not. Depending on the Pokemon's health and whether or not a battle assist is used will determine your success rate.
Captured Pokemon
Once you've captured a Pokemon they will stay in your party until you've used thier assist or used them in a battle. Once either of those have been accomplished the capture Pokemon will return to thier natural habitat.
Captured Pokemon can also travel outside of thier original habitat but only stay with a Ranger during a mission. Once the mission is over the Pokemon will leave on thier own.
Only a certain number of Pokemon will be able to be in your party depending on your Ranger Rank. Please check the Ranger Rank Post if you are unsure.
Battle Tips and Rules
Assuming that most of our RPers have already RPed in TTR, we'll keeps the battling rules short and sweet since they will follow the same basic guidelines. We're not going be uptight and super strict with the battles you have between the wild Pokemon that you plan to capture, but if you are battling another member then we suggest that you take a looks at TTR's "Batting and Trainer Matches" post. (Though I'm sure most of you are already familair with it.) >> Be descriptive, think outside the box, and make it worth reading. >> Give your opponents ample time to attack, counter attack, dodge, etc. >> I've already stated this in the rules, but, no godmodding! >> Not every single one of your attacks will hit thier mark, (unless you're only using something like Swift ) so be reasonable and have your opponenets dodge once in a while. >> Keep a Pokemon's size, agility, and other possible factors in mind. We don't want a flying Snorlax or a super speedy Muk. >> Dodging can be an effective and life-saving part of any battle, though it will take time. So keep in mind that if you dodge, you probably will not be attacking that round. Dodging can be combined with certain attacks such as jumping back from a thrown punch and releasing a Vine Whip at the same time. While we will allow this, please keep in mind to be VERY reasonable. If you care caught abusing this rule you will recieve a warning and continuious abuse will get you kicked out of the RP.

Missions
Ranger missions will be explained here. Everything and anything that you need to complete a successful mission will be here.
Below is an example of a mission that you will be able to pursue as a Ranger. Example Mission (1) Mission Rank - #1
(2) An Escort for Lady May(3) (4)Help! I need an escort though the Eterna Forest. Please contact me at Eterna's Pokemon Center! (5)Objective: Escort Lady May though the Eterna Forest unharmed. (6)Location: Eterna's Forest (7)Requirement: Mimimum of 5 posts ( 8 )Points Earned: 2 (9)Squads: 2 (10)Available: Open (1) Mission Rank >> Mission Ranks tell you which mission you are able to accept. Mission Ranks and Ranger Ranks are pretty much the same things. To accept a mission your Ranger Rank must either be the same rank or higher than the Mission Rank. If the Mission Rank is higher than your Ranger Rank, you are unable to accept the mission. Mission Rank 0 is open to anyone.
(2) Mission Name >> The name of the mission. Simple and easy as that.
(3) Sprite(s) >> A sprite of the person/Pokemon that you will be helping in the mission.
(4) Quick Description >> A quick description of the mission and where to meet the client if you accept the mission.
(5) Objective >> The main goal of the mission. These must be accomplished in order to complete the mission.
(6) Location >> The area where most, occasionally all, of your mission will be taking place.
(7) Requirement >> These may be a minimum amount posts, a battle, a capture, or anything else that must be fulfilled before the mission is declared complete. If you fail to meet any of the requirements then the Mission Points for that mission will not be granted.
( 8 ) Points Earned >> The amount of points that will be awarded upon the full completion of a mission.
(10) Squads >> The amount of Ranger that are able to take the mission together. The numbers indicate the maximum number of Rangers that are able to take that mission together at one time. Solo means only one Ranger.
(10) Available >> The availability of a mission. "Open" means that the mission has not been taken and still free for a Ranger accept. If the mission is in progress then "Open" will be replaced with the Ranger's name, ex. (Available: In Progress - Mitsu)
-----
Now that you understand the basics of a mission, you can apply for one. To apply for a mission please PM your character's name and the mission name to Mitsuko`. It's first come first serve. Once you have a mission, you must know how to execute it.
First off, you will receive a mission from your Pokenav given to you by one of the higher ups at the Ranger Headquarters in Sunnyshore. This event will occur after you have already selected a mission from the mission list, PMing it to Mitsuko`, and receiving an ok.
Secondly, you must find the client as stated above. They will either fill you in on details or accompany you depending on the mission. You must RP the client! If the client is to be roleplayed by one of the RP moderators then it will be stated in the mission form in bold and underlined letters.
Once meeting the client you may freely complete the mission, as you like as long as you meet the mission requirements. Be creative and think outside the box!
Once you've completed your mission you'll need to check in at one of the Ranger Headquarters. You can view you mission results (If it was succesful or failed) via your character profile.
Mission points will be awarded to your character upon full completion of a mission and can be seen via your character's profile.

Mission Points
Mission points are used for various things. They are a Ranger's "money" if you will. Mission points can be used to purchase items, partner Pokemon (in some cases), and many other things as well.
Mission points can be earned though successfully completing missions and from various event that will be held within the RP.
They can also be earned though continuous posting, regular visits to the RP, and roleplaying. Any mod who wishes to grant points may do so with the agreement of at least one other mod.
We also reserve the right to grant points for no apparant reason, though if done, all characters must be granted the same amount of points. This is mostly a "just in case" if the characters are a bit too low on points, therefore limiting RP progression. I don't think anyone has a complaint about this rule, but if you do, we'll gladly take it off. Quote: Mission Points: 23 Total Mission Points: 35 Mission Points - The points that you currently have and are able to spend. Total Mission Points - All the points that you have ever earned as a Ranger. This includes past points you have spent and the current ones you hold at the moment.
To purchase something with you mission points you will require the appropriate amount of points to do so. Once you have purchased something the correct amount of points will be deducted from your current amount of points. When purchasing, please state the purchase and cost in the Chatterbox as well as a short OOC senetence or two in the actual RP post. Please and thanks!
Once you've earned mission points they will be added to both your Mission Points and Total Mission Points.
You will not be informed about your current balance of mission points or total so keep a close eye on things when you're spending.

Ranger Rank
Your Ranger Rank will determine several factors in your adventure. All beginning rangers will begin at Ranker Rank 1 and work their way up to Ranger Rank 10.
Ranger Ranks will be granted by my (Mitsuko`) NPC Mitsu depending on how your job as a Ranger has been thus far and at certain key missions. Rangers CAN be demoted. Though, highly unlikely.
Ranger Ranks are mainly for RP purposes such as a higher ranked Ranger being able to lead a squad and hold more authority over other should the need arise.
There are, however, restrictions and rewards depending on the rank of your Ranger. Please see below for details.
Ranger Ranks Rank 1 >> Maximum Pokemon in your party is 3 excluding your partner Pokemon.
Rank 2 >> Maximum Pokemon in your party is 4 excluding your partner Pokemon.
Rank 3 >> Added ability to use Surf field assist.
Rank 4 >> Added ability to use Fly field assist.
Rank 5 >> You may now own up to four Partner Pokemon.
Rank 6 >> Maximum Pokemon in your party is 5 excluding your partner Pokemon.
Rank 7 >> Maximum Pokemon in your party is 6 excluding your partner Pokemon. >> You may now own up to six Partner Pokemon.
Rank 8 >> Maximum Pokemon in your party is 7 excluding your partner Pokemon.
Rank 9 >> You may now own as many Partner Pokemon as you wish.
Rank 10 >> You may now take Pokemon out of thier natural habitat.

Traveling
The town in Sinnoh that you choose to be your hometown will be where your adventure begins. We encourage you to find other member and roleplay with them. Character interaction is nice and will help you stay motivated to roleplay.
There are many way to get around Sinnoh, after all a Ranger can't be limited to only using his/her feet! 1 - Walking >> The easiest way around Sinnoh. 2 - Bikes >> Walking too slow for you? Grab a bike to get to your destination faster! 3 - Fly/Surf >> Once you acquire the appropriate Ranger Rank you'll be able to use these HM moves outside of battle. Fly and Surf on your partner or captured Pokemon to places unreachable by foot! 4 - Teleport >> Teleport to the closest Pokemon Center. 5 - Take the Ferry! >> Some islands are far away, unreachable by flight or surfing. 6 - Headquarter's Transit Pokemon >> The headquarters have a variety of Pokemon that will bring you to or return you from a mission. They only return to the headquarters.

Getting Started
Every Ranger-to-be needs some help getting on their feet and ready to go. Everyone starts off with 5 mission points, three items of your choice, and a Poketch.
The Poketch will be used to contact other members, once you have their numbers, contact the Ranger Headquarter, and many other purposes that are similar to in-game Poketchs.
You also start off with a Pokemon of your choice. Your starter Pokemon may be any Pokemon of your choice as long as they can be found within the Sinnoh region and are not Legendaries or extremely rare Pokemon.
Your starter Pokemon will be recieved depending on your entrance time in the RP. Please discuss the issue with Mitsuko` upon applying.
Your entrance time also determines your starting point within the RP. This will also be discussed with Mitsuko` prior to application acception.

Ranger Base Locations
Ranger bases are being established all around the Sinnoh region, but for now there is only one Ranger Base: The Sinnoh Pokemon Ranger Headquarters.
Sinnoh Pokemon Ranger Headquarters >> Located in the Munchlax statue in Sunnyshore. The base extends under the sea and is rather large. It is currently the only Ranger Base in Sinnoh and is capable of housing all of the Rangers as well as thier Pokemon. It is also the current home for the creator of the Sinnoh Ranger Organization, Mitsu.
