I read it and loved it! Of course, as with all movie adaptions, there were changes. I won't spoil the book, but there was much more emphasis on Sophie's sister and her relationships. Also, I find the movie a bit confusing.,(well, now i don't, once i've seen it a couple hundred times, but at first yeah) and from what I remember the book explains the curse and its connections to the witch of the waste. ...now i feel like re-reading the book, so i'll be off now, but give me your opinions, or go read the book if you haven't -its a must read for and true miyazaki fan. smile

I love the book! It goes in much detail about Sophie's family and Howl's family. I just love how DWJ describes things from Sophie's point of view. It's just a wonderful book. whee

Does everyone know that there's a sequel to Howl's Moving Castle? She wrote Castle in the Air, which has Howl, Sophie and Calcifer in it, but they aren't the main characters. I guess you can say it's a sequel. whee

That's where it gets a little confusing. Castle in the Air is the book by Diana Wynne Jones, which isn't to be confused with Castle in the Sky, which is the Miyazaki movie. Castle in the Sky is a completely different story, not in any way related to Howl's Moving Castle.

There is also another book in the same world of Howl's Moving Castle called The House of Many Ways. (:

The book was alright, but I think this was one of those very rare occasions where the English dub of the movie was better than the original Japanese, and the movie itself was better than the book.
