Police Chief Karen Vick was initially impressed by Shawn Spencer's display of psychic-like insight into her police officers' lives after she tried to arrest him for being an accomplice in a series of crimes which were solved with Shawn's tips. She is suspicious of his psychic abilities, but is not above using any tool at her disposal to solve tough cases. Her status as Police Chief appears to be Interim due to a current pregnancy.
Vick's relationship with Lassiter seems strained by the fact that she is "an outsider" who was chosen by "the powers that be in City Hall" to take the position over "someone from within our own ranks." Vick's decision to allow a self-proclaimed psychic so far into official police investigations has done little to assuage Lassiter's misgivings.

LLAMA? I expected better of you! But I do love Karen. I'm kind of a Karen/Henry 'shipper, even though Karen's married n' possibly quite younger than him- THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT CAN'T HAPPEN! I can just imagine her and Henry, both pretending they don't know the crazy psychic as Shawn is at the front psycheizuring, and they'll be somehow sitting next to each other, and they'll both look up at the same time. Karen'll be like, 'You know him too?' and Henry'll be like,'How do you know him?' 'He's my employee.' 'He's my son.' 'Wow, and I thought I had it rough.' 'It gets worse.' 'I can tell.' A small begginning, but a begginning nonetheless.
