Has anyone read this book?
And if so, what did you think about it?

I thought it was adorable, although I got mad at Battle from time to time, messing with Nic's emotions and all. .__.

Yeah I read that book, it was the only book that was written in journal-style form that I could actually finish. I thought it was adorable also 3nodding

Is this the novel by Sara Ryan? I havent read of it but I have heard about it . I am curious to know why the two of you thought the book was adorable. Can you give me some examples? Also, for those of us who have not read the book could you give a brief description of the story?

Here, this was the summary on the books website:

"Empress of the World, by Sara Ryan, is about friendship, love, and the sometimes blurry lines between the two. Nicola Lancaster comes to the Siegel Summer Institute for Gifted Youth to decide whether or not she wants to be an archaeologist. She doesn't expect to make the best friends she's ever had, and she especially doesn't expect to fall in love with another girl."

And it's cute because the girls aren't very old, and because it's written in a journal-like style I believe it gives a more interesting point of view of Nic's feelings and thoughts that are going through her mind as she realizes that she's in love with a girl.

It's a pretty good book 3nodding

I didn't really like Empress of the World...

For one, I'm sick of erading books where lesbians have weird names.
I mean, come on. Battle?
I know she was named after a building/hall of some kind, but still... Battle?!

Other than that, I thought it was too predictable.
And I don't think Nic should've taken Battle back so readily.
There should've been something more, than just, "Oh, you're done with Peter? Let's get back together, then."
It sort of irritated me.

But that's just me...

I liked the journal-style writing.
And I just thought the whole story was cute. <3
I like teen romance stories, so I guess that's why I thought it was cute.
Yes, my_asylum, you're right, it was kind of annoying with the predictability.

What's Gravel Queen about, wait_for_me_by_moonlight?
