Jup. I've been thinking about this topic since I know that it isn't easy for girls to watch "geek"shows. Even my mom doesn't understand me XD
Girls and even other guys don't expect that we do can like such great show. Ofcourse there are exceptions among you guys =) I mean, how can't I like Stargate. It has everything I like about a serie: a good plot, great characters, sexy actors heart And I don't like all scifi. I like Starwars but not Startrek.
So how about you girls? How does the people around you react towards Stargate?
And for the guys.. you think it's strange that girls like this kind of shows?

I was born a geek girl. Startrek, X-Files, Stargate, etc.....
I've obsessed over then all.
For me it's an even split when it comes to the gender of my friends who are fans. Growing up my mom wasn't wierd about it but my stepfather never understood any of it.
I was always the geek with friends though so I never noticed that I was odd. And now at age 24, I'm still the same with most of the same friends. I married a physics nut who will argue wormholes with me, not to mention that he doesn't mind that I'm madly in love with Rodney.
If you think it's odd now chances are that when you are older being a geek girl will make men think that you are just that much sexier. Even if they don't admit it.

Well my mother is the one who got me hooked on Star gate, star wars, star trek, X-files and any other Sci-Fi show that you can think of.
Most of my friends, both the guys and the girls will watch Star Gate, though none of them are as obsessed as I am with Star Gate. Each of us has our own show.
Mine is Star Gate. One has Buffy the other star trek and the X-files. We are all geek girls.

Actaully I have found that there are more Stargate Fangirls out there than Fanboys. I think it has alot to do with the fact that the writes balance Action with alot of character development.

Tahirah of Hekuptah Actaully I have found that there are more Stargate Fangirls out there than Fanboys. I think it has alot to do with the fact that the writes balance Action with alot of character development. I have to agree. The show, to me, relies more on the character's and story developments then heavy effects (though they are great effects). The action is enough to keep you engaged without over powering whatever meaning the writters want to convay. The guys I know stared at me when I started talking about it. It went something like like: "Wait...you like Stargate? You ACTULLY know what that is? Are you sure you not thinking of some...soap opera?"

My mom loved sci-fi and was the one who got me hooked on Stargate. 3nodding My dad thinks I'm nuts though. But then again he likes stuff with a very simple plot so if he falls alseep in his chair and misses half of it he can still know what's going on. xd
I think a lot of people expect me to watch things like Laguna Beach or The Hills, or whatever it is girls are watching these days. So when people find out I'm a big sci-fi geek they are always pretty surprised.

I have Stargate stuff on my binders. No one knows what it is, but I don't care. I practically eat sleep and breath Stargate, and I have come to the point where I don't care what people say, especpally if they have seen the show and look at me weird. That brings up a funny story though. I was at a convention with my dad and I there was a Q&A with a couple of SG-1. They hadn't come in yet but I though I had seen them comming in so I got really excited. the guy behide us suddenly laughs and says to us "okay, I have to know, who's the bigger fan?" basically, me or my dad (he's a fan too). I looked at my dad and laughed and said "me, by a land slide." The guy laughed and was all "that is really cool!" I was proud!

Funnily enough, when I was younger in the first couple of years of Stargate it used to creep me out, but it wasn't until I met one of my oldest friends they really got me into it and now I'm one of the biggest fans I know. I love to 'torture' my younger siblings with quotes and the lyrics to the 'theme song'. But I know they like it too. *hugs her trunk of Stargate DVDs*
