One topic I see arising almost every day in the GCD (Gaia Community Discussion) is on how Gaia keeps accepted sponsorships for things. In particular, the recent addition of yet another FUNimation dubbed anime series, Peach Girl, is somewhat what stirred me to make this topic.
People are complaining that Gaia, even though it obviously has not, is becoming like Neopets, or will soon become it in its entirety. The fact is, people don't realize that they're essentially getting this stuff for free, on a site they didn't even have to pay for to access, and this free stuff is not only what helps keep the site up and running, but what gives users a bit of variety in how they can spend their time on Gaia. And here they are, strutting about like they own the place, commanding Gaia to stop with the sponsorships, saying that they're entitled to better than this.
The fact is, access to Gaia and its features is a privilege, not a right.
They are, in essence, complaing over something they're being allowed to have, out of the goodness of Gaia's heart. While the main debate with Peach Girl is that people in Asian and some European countries cannot watch it. My response: "You're not missing out on much." As for all of the other sponsorships, such as movie ones and Gaia Rally, they should be glad they're getting new items to wear on their avatars, and not the same old things that they've always had. I'm quite impressed with some of the recent sponsor endeavors. The quests for Tsubasa Chronicles, The Last Mimzy, and Nancy Drew were actually pretty okay, considering.

I support sponsering in two points. Here they are.
Here's my defensive point. Why should you care? Is Gaia forcing you to make a car? No. Is Gaia forcing you to watch movie trailers? No. Is Gaia forcing you to do quests (sponsered or non)? No! The fact is, that you don't have to do a THING with Gaian sponsering. All you have to do is click a little announcement button. You don't even have to read that! You are given the choice to partake in Gaia's sponsering so why should anyone be against it at all.
Here's my offensive point. As Aeonis was saying, Gaia is a completely free service. Gaia has a small amount of income. Ads, MC's, and sponsered Gaia activities. With this income, they must pay for workers, computers, workspace, computer programs and more. This is NOT an easy thing to run! I'm predicting that Gaia makes very little profit and only has enough to pay for expenses. Any way to get money for Gaia, is sometihng crucial to Gaia. If you're against sponsers than you're against Gaia.

Well heres what i think: First of there are a lot of people who use gaia and gaia is a free website. The thing is some people pay for monthly collectible and other stuff and to them they think they own the site since they are paying for stuff while the other people like us have to raise our own stuff the hard way,either way sponsering is not a bad thing it helps out not only gaia but the sponser itself so it can get spread out.If people dont like it they can just ignore it and if they cant get enough of it and keep complaining about it to gaia adminstrators they can just leave gaia.No one is telling you to stay here so you can just leave anytime you want if dont like how gaia run things.
This is in my opinion. I may be wrong on some parts but this is what i think.

who cares? gaia needs money from somewhere and advertisements are everywhere as it is. I wont complain about this until they start putting up ads for porn, cigarettes and beer which the younger kiddies on here shouldnt see.

who cares, accepting these sponserships, think about it, they might be being paied for it, so with it they can upgrade gaia and make it better in all, and if the stupid noobs are mad because gaia is economizing than they can complain somewhere else, because us members that are truly dedicated to gaia knows it is for the best. We should respect gaias decissians because they know what to do better than the people complaining. If they hate it then they can go to a shitty site and have fun on their shitty games...
