I really like the look of hip piercings. I'm 15 (16 in September!) and I don't plan on getting them anytime soon (when i'm 17 and move out my mom will probably OK it) but what are the basics? I have heard of them ripping out and such so I was thinking of using a flexible bar, like THIS. Good idea, yes/no? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. smile

I love hip piercings. I want them really bad.
They usually only look awesome on really skinny girls. I've never seen a heart that I couldn't break.

Thanks guys. smile Even with a flexible PTFE/Tygon/Anything to that effect, it's still a surface piercing, and you still run the 50/50% chance of rejection. People pierced with PTFE bars for surface piercing have had good results, Atleast all that iv'e seen. Hip piercings are hard to heal tho. It's the same kinda thing as a navel piercing.. The area is constantly moving when you walk and such, so they run higher risk of rejection, with that said tho, many people have gotten them and had great success with them.
On a side note: Most (Good) Piercers won't to surface piercings on someone under the age of 18, so you may have to wait an extra year.

I'm still pretty conservative, and i wouldn't go for something that might be rejected form your body thats just gonna cause scarring if it comes out

I think it might be uncomfortable if you wore jeans, you know? I could just imagine someone pulling up their jeans and ripping the thing out. ):

I had a hip piercing once, it ripped and hurt like a ******** it left a pretty nasty scar, as well. ]:
But... it's always fun to just run into a room and be like "I HAVE MY HIP PIERCED! :D" and then see the reaction of all the people who've never even heard of such a thing.
so the awesomeness of having one and the pain of having one, kinda cancel out in the long run.
