Not many of you know this, but I reenact the Civil War with my family and several friends. My father portrays Gen. George E. Pickett who is famous for the charge at Gettysburg. I was there this past weekend and let me tell you, I've never had so much fun.

Thursday
So we left Wednesday night around 10pm. That was the easy part of the whole trip, even though I had to help someone (NATE) drink that peach vodka. I will never drink through a straw ever again. I still can't believe I forgot that! Let me tell you, I woke up with one nasty hangover (which I don't get that often).

We get into Gettysburg around 11am, but have to pick up a few more things, which makes us another hour late getting to the event grounds. I greeted everyone, my little sis (Robyn) first and literally glomped Ben (95 pound girl nearly plows over 100+ boy!).

And then the set up begins, which I stayed out of it since my parents have a system. So Robyn and I went stud watching. Yes, stud watching. There were about five union guys screwing around near our camp. WAY TOO YOUNG FOR ME!

The rest of my stuff finally showed and we set up my tent between rain showers. Of it sucked. My hair frizzed out and had this unnatural wave to it. Plus, wet canvas is a b***h to set up! And when we set it up, we find that Bree's too close to ours and stealthily move it with the help of our new neighbors, Dale, Super T, and Kevin. I remember Robyn showing up the guys on how to set up the tent.

Everything gets squared away, our area is looking sweet (remind me to snap a picture of the inside of my A), so we go walking and singing over by the bleachers and those union boys. I was sharing one of Robyn's ear pieces while we paced the stands. It was funny when she tried walking on stacks of two hay bales and fell with one leg sticking high in the air.

I don't remember much of that night sadly because I fell asleep. What I do remember is seeing Chote, Erika, Jesse, and everyone that rarely comes out show up! It was AWESOME having almost the entire Lee's group out there. And I loved that we had an area where everyone could sit down and eat together. It was simply amazing. And our line was perfect! We even walked the actual battlefield after dark. If you're wondering where the group name of "I came from my mother" originated from, it was actually a recorded piece of conversation. Kevin was messing with Dale's phone after we were asked where we were from. At the very end of this recording is "I came from my mother." So random!

Friday
I got up and did my morning jog to wake myself up. I shocked so many people because I was actually, for once, eating seconds and thirds! Friday seemed like a really slow day to me. I think we walked the Sutler row and pretty much hung out under the commissary tent playing a colonial version of boogle.

Then we got five more neighbors show up, but Bessy had to leave. I was taking a nap when they showed up and Dale tapped my foot and all I remember is sitting up and saying with a satanic voice, "Leave me alone." I was dead tired and wearing only my shorts, chemise, and red and white stockings. Ugh was it hot when I woke up. My chemise was soaked, so I put on my t-shirt and tennis shoes with my red and white stockings. Talk about a fashion statement.

I believe I was introduced to Tyle and Jarred then with those stockings on. Thus the new nickname, Pippi, was born! They invited us to go into town with them, but there was no room for us, sadly. So we hung around camp a bit, or did we walk to the military camp (my days are blurring together)? Yeah, we went to military camp and heard those hardcore guys singing Flogging Molly!

When we got back we hung out with the boys, met the three other girls, Bessy, Brittany, and Leasa, while playing this game called a*****e. It was a drinking game, but you could have whatever you wanted. Crazy T was always the a*****e in the game. X-D

OMG, we took a small bathroom break one time and Tyle was outside just dancing with the flashlight. All I heard was Robyn giggle. And then he was peeking into the portelets and suddenly disappeared inside, like making a mad dash. A couple of minutes later he's RUNNING OUT of it down passed the activities tent claiming he was being chased by little people eaters! And at one point, Jarred tells him to go for a run and asks Super T to go with him. They start off together and then Super T hides behind a sign while Tyle keeps going. It was hilarious! And Robyn tipsy was just freakin' funny! And Stale Dale kept killing off his minions or they would run away. Needless to say, we went to bed early in the morning.

Saturday
Went for my run again in the morning. That day was busy busy. We had a tea and TWO weddings set up. At first I was just going to be photographer, but then a couple of the maid of honors bailed out at the last minute so I had to be one. The Hollands renewed their vows and Robyn got some awesome pictures! The second one was actually a Make a Wish event. The wife was going in for brain surgery and probably had a 10% chance of living. Her one wish was to renew her vows at Gettysburg. And it happened. I nearly cried for that one.

After that, we stayed for the spy event with Pinkerton and company. Robyn plays Belle Boyds (thus her Beebs nickname) and we learned quite a bit about the clothing most female spys wore. I'm definitely going to have to use that knowledge to my advantage. But we went back and saw the duo and he invited Robyn to join in their presentation next year! We've got their cards.

The tea was interesting. We were there only for the food. >> But it wasn't the greatest atmosphere. I have another sheet for language of the fan that I really should start trying to us in roleplay. But thankfully, we got to disappear with the boys to crash a pool. X-D

If you look for the wax museum of Gettysburg, there is a small hotel right across from it. That's the pool we crashed. But on the way there we were in standing traffic for the round about. There were three 13 years olds sitting on a bench and Tyle asked them if they were vibing him. "No, I'm rich." "No, I think you're vibing me." And then out of the blue they find the song they were looking for, "What is love," and I swear Tyle had a seizure! He literally spazzed in his seat banging his hands on the dashboard. So we circled the round about until the song was over but Dale bailed on us!

It was nice to soak achey feet in the cool pool water. We watched the boys do a barrage of cannon balls into the pool, except Dale (again). They even had a chicken fight and tried to make the biggest wave. Robyn and I went and got food at some point and we made it in time for the last three dances of the ball.

I actually danced the Gothic dance (fast pace racing dance) with quite the southern gentleman. He excused himself elequently and even escorted me back to where I had started. I danced the Polka with Jarred too.

Somewhere we gained another Jarred. I swear he was as high as a kite and would have hit on anything single with boobs. >< Needless to say, we didn't stay up with the gang and it was a good thing from what I've heard.

Sunday
I wasn't feeling great. xP It was too much dust from the ball, so sadly I missed church, my jog, and breakfast. I didn't even dress because I volunteered to stand with Daniel (Porter Alexander) in my full uniform and take pictures of Pickett's Charge.

The gang just kinda hung out behind the tents until it was closer to the battle. We shared our myspace information and a few messenger things as well. I went on the battlefield with Will and Porter. I forgot to take my earrings out, so I left my hair down. Plus I couldn't really remove my makeup! I was one beautiful boy. I did get some excellent shots though. The battle as a whole sucked. It was only Kemper's division and you couldn't even see my dad! It was complete bullshit.

After the battle, a handful of us headed into town again. It was kinda a last hurrah of those who could go. Tyle saw his waiter at Friendly's again and gave him a packet of sugar "with love." The guy returned the favor with a pepper shaker! Hilarious! It was nice just sitting around and talking.

I had to book it back to Andy's Sutler though to help him tear down, so I wasn't really around for all the goodbyes. I saw everyone leave though and the gang stopped by to say goodbye to me. x3 Made me feel special. I didn't want the weekend to be over.

Then it was down to just our small group and the Bradys. It sucked camping alone.

Monday
It took forever to load up! And then when we left, close to 2pm, we still had to stop by the wall/angle. It was a long a** trip home. Boring, tiresome. But we made it back around 1am.

I got lots of pictures! I demand that you see them since I spent two days uploading them to facebook and myspace.
