So, anyone read it? I am in the middle. It is about a young man who after getting out of prison is picked up as help by a mysterious Mr. Wednesday...a weakened American incarnation of a god. He is trying to get together all the old gods so they can band together against the new ones. I love the humor and it is a rather interesting idea. So far, the book is pretty good. Any comments, questions, burning desires to discuss?

I read this one awhile back, and I remember enjoying it quite a bit - I particularly loved playing the "Which God/Goddess Is That?" game and seeing just how phrased I am at mythology. ^_^ I love the concept that people created new gods out of modern conveniences/technology and whatnot...makes me wonder... ...if that actually happened, is there a God of Fast Food wandering around? wink

That would be so weird. But if it was the case, I'm afraid a fast food god would be the first to appear. It is fun trying to figure out the god references. I loved the ending!

I get mixed replies on that. I bought Anansi Boys but I did not want to read it during school b/c I suspect it deserves my full attention. One person told me Anasi Boys was good, but overambitious and American Gods is much more cohesive and enjoyable. Another told me Anasi Boys is so amazing American Gods is nothing next to it. I will be able to give you my own opinion in two weeks.

I enjoyed Anansi Boys, it was very good, but I think that American Gods was better. It felt more polished and better-woven. I also liked the main players much better.
