I know Kenneth had thought about it for a long time. He had a couple of friends that had been in Iraq. I watched them sit and talk about it for months. He was in a rut here at home. His job was humilating, and he longed for something more challenging in his life. We talked about it on many occasions. I was always supportive of Kenneth, telling him that I would worried like every mother would, but that I would stand behind any decision he made. This is not something you decide in a few days. Our soldiers put their life on the line every day. Of course we want them safe and home in our arms. They are becoming strong for us. Let them go and take care of us for awhile away from home. They'll be home soon and eating our terrible cooking. lol

Home of the free... My man joined for similiar reasons as your son. He was stuck in a dead end job of selling cars for almost no money, and he was 24 and felt that he was going no where in his life. He longed for the challenge and the pride of being a soilder. We did discuss it with one another for a long time....Because of the brave.
