How has the father abandoned the mother if he is paying his share of the hospital fees? How is it his responsibility if the women decided to give birth knowing that the father wouldn't pay? She would have chosen to raise the child by herself. If she gets herself into financial hardship, then she has gotten herself into that situation voluntarily. The mother would have chosen to bring a child into the world without financial aid by the father. If she did so knowing that she couldn't handle it by herself, then she is the irresponsible one.
