well, this is spured by the facts that A: i live in oregon. and B: two mexicans just knocked on the door looking for work.
well as it is semi-well known and defenitivly well known in united states, some 1 million mexicans have illigily crossed the border into the united states.
now, not only is this a security risk, but it is absorbing jobs from american workers.
,my question and discussion: is there a way to solve this problem.
my solution (or i should say grandfathers solution.): ask mexico to become a state.

I don't think making Mexico a state will help anything. Mexico has too many people. Mexico City gains something like 1 million people every year. They don't know English. Most mexicans aren't skilled. Rather than benefiting anyone, it would most likely just cause problems for everyone. I don't know how it needs to be helped. But, I think the borders should be more patrolled. I think they should be worked with to build their country up instead of overtaking ours. They need better education and better medical care. If they sent over their best and brightest to study here, they could go back and teach and practice medicine. They need to work on themselves internally rather than gaining wealth from another nation.

Making Mexico a state would make our territories angry and it would be empire building. The average American, like me hates the idea of an empire. So your idea wouldn't be wise, it would end up in a political mess. Let Mexico stayMexico. Here in PA, we have alot of Mexicans too, I prefer them to the workers here because they are grateful to have a job. No, let us ask the Israelies how they made their wall and lets build a long large wall to block any more illegals out of the U.S.A.

Off topic, but theres a bunch of mexican cleaners at the diner where I work... and they really creep me out. Always looking at me in a scary way and saying things in Spanish to eachother while winking at me... I wonder if they realize that I'm underage >__<
They are another example of people who just stereotype themselves. rolleyes
On topic:
About the whole "absorbing jobs" complaint, some may disagree and argue with "are they taking up jobs you even want?" Like, do you really want to be making minimum wage cleaning up after other people? I don't. Sure, its an underappreciated job... but they aren't taking up all the high paying jobs. If you can speak fluent English, you can probably get a better job.
Also, are they getting the jobs to pay for English lessons and college classes so they can eventually get even better jobs? 9 out of 10 times, they aren't... but if they are, then damn, they deserve the money.
(btw I am an immigrant from Russia, and my family worked really hard to get from the bottom to where we are now. Just mentioning that to give a bit of credibility to my words.)

I am sure that there are exceptions to this rule but the vast majority of mexican illegal imigrants are not getting 4.50 an hour. They are taking crap jobs under the table for pennies on the dollar. 2.50 an hour being deemed kick butt good. THEN they are sending that home to feed their impoverished families. They are taking jobs that we ourselves wont take. Like cleaning jobs or car wash jobs. Labor positions americans don't really want and then payed cash and barely any of that so that there is no record of them working. If there were a way to legalize them w/o declaring them a state I say go for it. However, there isn't. It's a sad state these individuals live in and I'm not really sure what the answer is.
