This is kind of along the lines of the "annoying questions" thread, but I saw it on this great army shirt site and it made me laugh and think about you guys...so here they are! The top ten things to never say to someone who has a soilder deployed!!
10. Do you miss him? 9. I don't know how you do it. 8. I know just how you feel. 7. Are you scared something may happen to him? 6. I would die if my husband left me for that long. 5. Has he had to kill anyone? 4. Aren't you afraid of him now? 3. Aren't you worried he's going to cheat on you? 2. Are you excited he's coming home? 1. Why couldn't he just get a real job?

Anyone who has a husband or son in the armed forces at this time has already gone over in their minds all these questions. We know they are going to be different when they come back. If you are old enough to remember Viet Nam, then you know what I'm talking about. My own dad did the Korean thing, but never saw any action. My son is fresh from Infantry school. We all knew it wasnt going to be easy, but you just have to stand behind the man you love and trust him.

My brother's best friend is also my best friend, and he asked me once, while ChrisPY was in Iraq, he said "So how many people has he killed?"
I was disgusted. I had to explain to Eric that if he even mentioned that kind of thing around my brother I was going to kick him where it hurts. That's entirely insensitive, and immature.

It's especially stupid when they arent going to be in a career that actually kills people. like my sister, she isnt going to be killing, but people ask questions like that and it's like, "are you stupid? not all of them go to kill genius."

I didn't see much of a difference in my husband. He's seen action, he's killed and he's almost been killed. Of course, I was in basic and AIT throught half of his deployment so maybe I didn't see change because I've changed in much the same way.

man of course all those questions have gone through my mind. And it didnt help that my parents seperated right before he had to go. so my mom kept telling me that he was gonna die and that he was gonna be all evil when he came back. I just didnt like it when my friends asked those questions just because it brought back the thought that he might not come back. But of course they always do. ^^

He was called to save a baby that had been choking for 15min. before they called him. by the time he got there it was too late and he couldnt save it. he called me crying saying that it was the worst day of his life.

Not a day goes by
I hated when people would ask me those questions when my boyfriend at the time was deployed.
Number 8 always pissed me off a lot because they'd relate their boyfriend visiting some family for a week or whatever and it's totally different because their boy was SAFE while they were away from him.
Number 5,4 and 3 always pissed me off a lot too
The other ones just were annoying.
That I don't think of you

I guess I haven't heard them enough to be bugged by them yet, or maybe living in a military town keeps as many people from asking.
As for #5, my husband was a machine gunner, now hes a team leader for a gun team, my husband has killed, and will kill again, it really is in his job description

I agree completely. My friend's husband was recently deployed. I'm happy to say I'm not guilty of saying any of those. Of course they miss them. Some people ask her and myself if we miss our loved ones as if it's never crossed our minds before.
