So in Phantasy Star 3, which weapon type do you use most often for the main characters?
I tend to stick to the needles since, while weaker than a knife and shield, two knives, or a sword, they boost speed and can hit half or all, with two, of the screen. This proves especially useful for Rhys as he can usually clear the screen of Eindon and Tsveidon before they can use their poison, saving both money on Antidotes and TP for Mieu, as well as clearing a path to the stronger enemies for Mieu, Lena, and Lyle. Later in the game, before getting the strongest swords, I tend to drop a needle, or a shield, for a knife.
Granted I'll switch to a sword to deal with the bosses, especially Lyle.

I usually do that as well, especially for Lena and Sari.

I've played around with the needles (that didn't sound right. o.o )
But I usually stick to the sword. However, they can be usefull and in the future I might try them out again. The Eindon type enemies drive me crazy with all the poisoning.
In PS4 I tried going the knife route with Chaz but the allure of swords was too much. @_@
