I love this pairing! And I've only found about two other people who like it...
I know Shikamaru said he hates Neji in the Chuunin exams (does he or am I mistaken?) but Neji changes, right? XD!
Anyways, I saw there was no thread for it and decided to post it!

I heart this pairing! I think it could work. They're both highly intelligent (ok, genius), and if they spend enough time togehter, I think it's possible for them to get together. I wish there were more fans of this pairing!

Not only do Shikamaru and Neji make a cute couple, I think they could work out based on personality/character similarites and differences.
First off, they're both incredibly smart. Can you say Shougi partners?
Also, ever heard of the "opposites attract" rule? Slacker + Hard Worker just go together. Plus, this difference can help complement each other's personality. Neji could get Shikamaru to realize his potential, and Shikamaru could get Neji to relax and enjoy life a bit more. This not only bonds them more strongly, but betters both Neji and Shikamaru individually.
Did I mention that they are both incredibly sexy? Gotta keep sexy together, y'know?

I don't really think they're opposites, per se, but rather people with similar personalities who show different traits. Did that make any sense? What I'm trying to say is that I think they're very much alike, but they show a different side than the other normally.
Sorry if that fried anybody's brain. Nearly fried mine...

Rin, I think your theory makes sense. But, I'm kinda having a hard time seeing how Shikamaru and Neji have similar personalities. (That's just me thinking, though.)
I still love this pairing. Someone should post fanarts. pirate

I agree with the opposites attract thing. That is definately the case with the two of them...
But I wish there'd be more fanfiction on them ;_; lol

So, I've decided to post some lufferly ShikaNeji fanarts that I had saved to my computer. Enjoy! (Sorry for any page stretching.)  Here's one I made a while ago. I know I messed up on their clothes and proportions, but it's still cute. (Right?) More pics I found! (Sorry if I stretch the page.)  How does one beat the great Shikamaru Nara at Shougi? A game of footsie with his koi, of course!  "I think we can make this game more interesting. The loser has to take off some clothes...." (I love how Neji's thigh is showing. -drool- And Shika in his mesh! heart )  An intimate moment between the two. <3  So adorable!
