Donovan A great folk singer, his voice makes me melt.
Some starter songs I suggest to get an overall feel of his range: Wear Your Love like Heaven, Sunshine Superman, House of Jansch, and The Enchanted Gypsy.

Seriously, listen to Temporary Heroes, Somebody's Baby, Fire and Ice, and all of her other well known classics.

Bangs, Bikini Kill, and Tracy+ The PLastics are from the 90's Olympia Riot Grrl indie-punk feminist movement.

Go Betty Go and Be Your Own Pet is sort of a chick punk rock

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pretty Girls Make Graves and Metric are indie. (Metric is from Canada)

Gossip is something that happens if Aretha Franklin and the Rolling Stones started a band. xd

Jack Of Jill is a powerfuly offensive altrock group named by Maryln Manson. On Vocals is Jessicka with a peepy little doll voice that progresses into all out metal growls.
