Okay, I didn't really want to do this, but I needed to address a few topics: Language, clothing, and attitude.
Language is kind of a duh thing.... Please try to refrain from swearing, name calling (to others AND self), and putting people down (again, others and self). God loves us just they way we are, and we're perfect in his eyes. No one can tell us otherwise, not even ourselves. If you're one of those people who picks out everything that's wrong with you, you're lying to yourself.
Clothing is also kind of a duh in my opinion, but it obviously isn't to everyone else. This is a really tender subject, so I hope I'm not offending anyone with this. How we dress is a reflection of who we are, correct? For example, my avie says that I'm a school girl who wont wear skirts above her knees and I don't like midrif shirts. It's a fairly modest avatar, while still kinda cute. (You can dispute the cuteness of my avie amoungst yourselves, I don't really care.) It... it saddens me a little to see how some people on gaia dress. I don't mean anyone particular, and don't acuse me of singling you out, because I don't have time to pick on every individual avie, but please look at yourselves and think what it says about you. I know that some of you will dispute that an avatar is just a computer thing, but it represents your personality in a very public way. Are you dressed like a christian?
Last but not least, attitude. Please, if you ask for help or advice and you don't get the response you want, don't pout about it. Thank that person for trying to help you, even though it's not what you're looking for. We all want to help, so please don't shun us for giving all we have for you. Be receptive, and maybe even help around sometimes too.
That's all. Please keep the flaming to a minimum. All positive thoughts are welcome.

Well I know I try not to swear but it slips sometimes, we're all human. And clothing, well my avi says I'm a tomboy pirate thing who likes to have fun..and yea! Lastly, my attitude just IS "Don't worry be happy" so we're all good there 3nodding

whoa whoa whoa. This is what i ont like. how some christians have a problem with how others dress. I believe that a person can dress however he/she pleases. I myself have read the bible. Now you tell me where it says that a person needs to dress a certain way. I'm sorry but i think it is stuck up to tell a person they are "un-christian" for wearing things. Sure i agree the person can be a skank or a Dumb person. but it would be too far to go and say they are being non-christian. my friends have pericings, wear make up, and finger nail polish, and they are guys. now i ask, is that un-christian. they wear black t-shirts, and black pants to church. NO!! it isnt, god doesnt judge on how we dress, he judges us on our character and out faith. so im sorry, but please refrain from talking about how people dress, its rather snobbish. sorry if i offend you. dress how you want to, and say what you wish about how they dress, but dont comedown on someone and say thy arent christian, thank you.
thats my only problem with your statement. the cursing, yea thats bad. and the comeing down on someone is bad too. so yea. see ya.

Hey, chill out, I never said anyone was un-christian because of how they dress. I too have read the bible and find no direct statement that says certain types of clothing are "evil," but not everything we do is based on a 2000 year old book. I don't care if you wear black, or pierce your ears, or paint your nails, maile or female. That's not what I was getting at. I'm referring to provocative clothing. I already stated my problems with clothing in the hentai thread: Arden_Lavendar Personally, I believe that hentai is disrespectful to both genders. I woman flauting herself, real or animated, leads a man to lust, and lust is a mortal sin. We aren't meant to lead each other away from God. We're here to draw each other towards God. And the same goes for men flaunting themselves to women. When we draw each other away from God, we hurt ourselves, and we hurt Him. We all deserve better than that. Clothing that is provocative leads people away from Christ, and not just in the form of lust. People often make fun of those who dress immodestly, using terms that are innapropriate for a christian guild. Please don't accuse me of calling anyone un-christian because of how they dress because I would never do something like that.

i wasnt accuseing you persey. but i was making a statement cause it sounded like it. cause you asked if we "were dressing christian"... so i thought you were just barely touching the surface of what you really wanted to say. and i have heard it a million times. and i wasnt talking about peirced ears. see i have peirced my lip twice, i did it myslef. and my friends have various peircings and gauging in other places then the ears. and i know alot of people frown on that.so i wasnt accusing you. sorry if it sounded like it. i was just stressing how people make a big deal of clothing, thats al really.

I agree Arden, although i'm not christian.. it just sometimes kind of sickens me sometimes how some people dresso n gaia... they dress up like sluts sometiems nad act liek it 'cuz they can'. Its quite annoying how if they don't have the body to do it in RL, then they get hte body online and use it for various, slutty purposes....
also, my avatar shows nothing about me.. its simply him.. he looks kool and thats that.. maybe there is some of my persona in there... but that may be revealed in the gloves.. i don't liek to get my hands dirty.. simple as that...
I also see of gaia as my 'second life', where i can have friends, a life, a reputation.. except you don't have to eat... thats basically it... you can have a home.. you can have a relationship.. you can also have a family...

I don't mean to discredit your opinion, but I hadn't really intended for this to be a hate thread. "Slut" is one of the terms I earlier referred to as unappropriate for a christian guild, so please be respectful in how you use it and similar terms. True, not everyone's avi speaks about them, but many people dress their avi's like themselves. For example, Frozendefeat's avi was entirely black at one time and he earlier described how he dressed that way, which is perfectly okay. I'm not criticizing colors. I love black. It's number two on my list of favs. I'm more concerned with how much is covered. Example: I just got back from vacation, and while I was away I saw a guy wearing a shirt that said "Modest Girls Are Hot." He struck me as a much more friendly and nice person than the other guy I saw who was wearing a speedo and staring hungrily at myself and a friend, along with another girl who was in the pool with us. The outside sayd a lot about the inside. Remember that.

Well.....I never wear short skirts (they make me uncomfortable). As for my avi's top....I never meant for it to look skanky or anything, it just matched.... sad But in real life, I like to wear pants and long, loose shirts. 3nodding Is that wrong?

Akasha_wp If we were all prefect then we'd all act and look the same.. no? Uhm, yeah, but that's not what I'm talking about. I don't believe anyone can be perfect, except in the eyes of God. After all, He made us, and God doesn't make mistakes.Just because I dress modestly, I'm not going to say I'm perfect, or I'm better, because those are both lies. I'm no where near perfect by human standards, and no one is better than anyone else. I'm sorry I don't really follow what you're getting at, but it had nothing to do with the original statement.

God is perfect. God made us perfect. If we were made perfect shouldn't we stay perfect? To be perfect shouldn't we be eternal. Eternity is just a sub form of perfection. I'm a little off topic to what you're all saying. i don't care how you dress. ^-^

NewAgeLink wait, so is this a rules sticky? domokun No, this is not a rules sticky. There is no rule on how you dress. This is just a sticky on moral issues I thought needed to be addressed. If you dress innapropriately, there's nothing I can do about it, so it can't be a rule. What good is a rule if it can't be enforced? Anyway, to Nelrond, I know the guy wasn't staring at his girlfriend behind me. There was no one else outside. It's true the the teenager in the "Modest Girls Are Hot" shirt may not have been a good person, but honestly, the first impression is the most important one. All humans judge on appearance, and don't tell me you don't because that's a lie. It's true that some do it less strongly than others, but we all do it, to an extent. I'm at fault here too. Nel, you said that your outside didn't match your inside, but you also said you dress to please others. Duh? The part of you that wants to please others in the way you dress is the part we see on the outside. It matches there. Don't be afraid to be true to yourself, and be real with life. Human things can't bring you real happiness. Only God can grant you that, and it's out duty to glorify Him in all we do. Even how we dress.
