The dew of the morning seemed to sparkle on the grass in the clearing. The day was already turning into a good one with the light rain from the night before having cooled the land to a nice bearable temperature and made the foilage seem to spring to life. Of course the foilage wasn't the only thing springing to life as the underbrush rustled and moments later Critter sprung through the brush and bounded into the clearing. His child-like spirits were very high today and he was in such a mood that he had to take a happy gander around the clearing. Unlike Critter though Halloween's spirits were not that high. She came into the clearing after Critter's third time around the clearing. He sure has a lot of energy. She thought to herself as she walked into the clearing and stopped a few length's out. She turned her gaze to her soaked hooves and sighed. "Oh goody... Doesn't look like I'm going to get to lay down until far past sun high..." The thought just made her want to collapse. Lately she'd been so tired and Critter's high strung nature sure wasn't helping her any.

A very familiar, always smiling face trotted about, his cropped tail wiggling behind him. It had been very long since he had been in his homeland. He had taken an unannounced trip away, and had just gotten back. He was very eager to see his family once again, as when he left, his children were still foals. He was sure they had grown up by now, and he wanted to see them more than anything. Of course, Halloween was on his mind too, but his own flesh and blood were running around, all grown up. He just had to see them.
Licking at the wet grass of the meadow, Varmint was in the same meadow as her mother and brother, but didn't really realize it. She was busy tasting the precious water that the grass had collected, and boy did she love it. She also had things on her mind.. But for once, not her family. A gorgeous orange stallion with white hair and pinkish eyes danced around in her memories. This was a giant crush she had, and she really missed him. Hopefully, she'd be able to see him again soon... As he was the only other stallion, other than her brother and father, that she really liked and enjoyed. Only when she was with him did she feel like a spunky filly once more.

As Critter's attention spread across the meadow taking everything in he spotted his sister licking at the grass. His smile widened on his milky white lips and he changed his direction and bounded over towards his sister. He came to a screeching hault next to her. His legs and belly were covered in the grass his hooves had broken loose of the ground and slung up. His whole body was pretty much wet and there was even more grass caught in his long tail. "Morning Varmint! Have a good sleep?" He asked cheerfully.
Halloween watched her children, both were big enough to now be considered adults, though she wondered if Critter was mentally able to be considered an adult, but she still saw them as foals dependant on her for food, for protection, for shelter. She'd changed so much from the wild mare she used to be. Having foals had matured her, calmed her, and left her feeling very tired. Deep down a fire still remained but that fire so rarely showed through now that there was only one that could make it shine through anymore and he had left while their children were still foals and she doubted now that she'd ever see him again.
