I was just wondering if I'm supposed to twist my lip piercings or not? My friend told me I should and I've looked at a lot of sites and some of them say don't while others say I should. It's confusing me. gonk
I'm just paranoid of my skin healing to the stud or something.

Also, how soon can I downsize because my swelling has gone down a lot and it's getting annoying, I have studs, and I don't want to risk them rubbing against my gums when I smile or cracking or chipping my teeth if I accidently bite on it while eating.

Your responses are appreciated!

don't konw where you got your sources, but many say, and i recommend, DO move it around. that makes sure the skin doesn't heal around the piercing, and about the whole taking it out thing, ehh... it's risky because it all depends on you and you alone and how your body heals. i'd say you could try it, but be careful because if you can't get it back in, well there goes your piercing.

How long have you had it in? If it is over two weeks you can get a smaller diameter ring. As for twisting it, you don't have to. I do recommend while cleaning to get your soap in (make sure you rinse well!!), but other than that... twisting is a myth. As long as your piercing was done by someone licensed and not shady, they should have used .316 surgical grade stainless steel jewelry, titanium or at least 14k gold; then it will not heal to the jewelry. Phew! A mouthful!

Alright, thanks you guys!

This coming Thursday, the 26th of July will be exactly two weeks. Would I be able to change it then? Or should I wait one more week after that just to be safe as to not irritate the piercings?

Deffinatley twist it around while it's still healing, but only once a day, like in the morning. Too much twisting can cause infection or agrivation.
