Sheik is most definitely and completely a girl. A disguised, Princess-Zeena-in-hiding kind of girl.

No s*** Sheik's a girl! She's Zelda's alter-ego, created by the need to survive and the Triforce of Wisdom. Plus, in SSBM (which I play every day to prepare for SSBB), she's my Kick-a** player (aside from Marth and Young Link)

But you won't believe how many times people turn Sheik into a guy. I mean, he relatively looks like a guy (since that was the point Zleda wished to execute), and some people just hate Sheik and Zelda being the same person. So they turn him into a guy.
Oersonally, I don't mind, but I prefer Sheik a girl.
