Does anyone else like writing their own stories or poems? I do. Bad part is, I have one too many ideas, I just can't work on one project. I'm thinking of writing an Star Wars fan fic. I've been playing Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic and there are stuff I want to do that the game won't let me. X3 I have an over active imagination.

But I also write fairy tales and fantasy stories. I also like to write poetry. Although my poetry is a disgrace to all poets. razz I like writing funny poetry that isn't very well built.

I ha a shoe box I started in 7th grade full of my ideas for a book! But I never did it...
the writing is the hard part...
I'm better at poetry.

My parents think I'm a very good writer, but I don't think so. I just don't have the imagination for a writer. I think of things the way they are, not in a twisted/different way. I know all the "mechanics" or whatever of writing/English, but I can never say things the way I want, or express myself the right way...

razz Yeah KK, the hardest part of writing is....writing. But you should give it a shot. At least you wrote down your ideas. I don't. XD But I'm starting to now. Like now, when I write, I get major writers block. I have to force myself to skip over the part and keep on writing. I'll come back to it later. I just need to get a rough draft down or I'll spend all my time editing.

That's a good point Bab. I had an ex-friend who thought she was a great writer. It didn't help the fact that she won 2nd or 3rd place in some tiny writing contest. She really is only good at mechanics. She keeps saying she is a walking dictionary. But that never makes a good writer. You really gotta have a good imagination. But, that does not mean everything has to be twisted and/or different. Take Little Women for example. It was a regular story about regular people in an regular age. Yet it was very good.

A thing that helps me express things into words is by observing regular things. Like going out for a walk. Really looking at stuff around you. You could also try writing by your emotions. I tend to be an emotional person, so I write by how I feel. And if I'm feeling happy and need a sad part, I listen to sad music.

I have a few Star Wars stories, but I've never really gotten around to writing them. xD Mostly I just draw the characters involved.

Anyhoo...writing...I guess I'm not really fond of writing when it's an entire story. But I do enjoy writing plotlines and characters. So I guess you could say I'm a concept writer.

My friend Elizabeth is an amazing writer, though.

Yeah I'm kind of the same way. Although concept writers make good roleplayers.

I'd classiy myself as a concept writer too. But how do you RP, I still don't know how that works...

Roleplaying...well, it's sort of like writing a story with a group of people.

Or, to a more simplistic extent, it's like those make-believe games you used to play with your friends when you were little. Except vastly more complicated, and in written form.

I don't particularly enjoy it, but some people really love it.

Ok, cuz I've been wanting to learn how.
All I've ever heard of for RPing is D&D and that is way too complex for me.
Sure, there are RP video games like FF, but I never really understood why...

Thanx

If you like writing, don't give it up, no matter what people say.
I have learning disabilities. I have Dyslexia and something in math. I have terrible at grammar. I can not memorize all that well, so I don't remember grammar rules that well.
But I love to write. It's one of my passions. You don't always have to have a imagnation to write. Like the book, "Little Women." It told how things are. And it is a great book.

I'm currently writing a book. I'm like on chapter 25 or so. Writing is too general a range to clasify it as the hardest thing to do when writing a book. For me it's many different things: sentance structure; coming up with a world for which to put my characters in; decribing everything well enough; the research to help explain better; and coming up with unique characters are all very difficult for me.

I'm going to post my edited first chapter in my journal soon so keep your eyes open for it!

I look forward to reading it. Writing a book is hard. I use a science poster board and plan out my story. Then I write a rough draft (still in process) and then I'll smooth it out, put in enough details...ect

I'm just winging writing my book. So when I get new ideas it's put on hiatus for a while.

So new update. I've been having troubles with the beginning part of my book. After much writers block I am finally on the move again. Expect my first chapter to be up within the week.

If you have writers block in one part, skip it and move onto another part. This goes against all my will, but I force myself to do that because if I stop on a story, I'll never pick it up again. razz You stop when your writing is going somewhere. That way it makes you want to come back and write more.
