Okay, first off, welcome to the Guild, I'm glad you decided to join and I hope you have a good time. After checking the rules you should go to the Roll Call forum to introduce yourself. I know how tiresome it can be to just spend ages toiling through the rules, so I'll keep it short and simple. Here's the contents:
1) General rules (for everyone to read) 2) Contest hosting rules (for people who want to run contests) 3) Contest entry rules (for people entering contests) 4) - Recieve a newsletter via PM!
Thank you!

General rules
These are the rules that apply to everyone, so everybody joining the Guild should read these before they do anything else.
1) I can't read every single post, so if you see someone breaking the rules it's your own duty to let me know. Just send me a PM.
2) Please treat other people with respect. Be nice.
3) This is a writer's guild. I have a personal beef with text talk. I'm not asking you to use words like "fortuitous" in every sentance, (because even I can't spell that), but please write like a literate person. And if I get any comment saying "literate people use text talk too", I shall be quite annoyed.
4) You're fine to comment on other people's writing, but please be nice. Constructive criticism is fine, but "OMG u suxorz!!1" can, and will get you banned.
5) Please keep everything in the appropriate forums. Comments to be postd in the same forum as the work you're commenting on, but keep general chat to the General Chat forum, etc.
6) You're free to just chat (in the appropriate forum), but please keep things to a PG-13 standard, swearing to be at least partially blanked, etc, etc, you know the story.
That's just about it, I'll add more rules as they come up.

Contest hosting rules
These are the rules about people who wish to create a contest.
1) Post me with the details of your contest and then post the contest here. A new forum for every contest, you can run a maximum of two contests at any one time, after one month of membership you can run three, increasing by one for every month you've been a member.
2) Post two copies of the contest: an "original" copy here, and another "advert" copy in Gaia's main Writing Competitions Forum. In the "advert" copy, post all the contest details, except for how to enter. Instead of saying how to enter, provide a link to the "original" copy here, saying that to enter the contest you must come here to the Guild. This will increase Guild publicity, as well as the number of contestants in your own contest.
3) When you post the contest include these details: Prize, Deadline, Rules, what you have to do to enter, then anything extra.
4) In the name of the forum, put either (prose), (poetry) or (poetry and prose) after the name. This makes it easier for people who have a particular preference to tell which contests they want to enter.
5) Remember to post the winners, preferbly on the contest's closure day (if you can't be there for that then PM me and I'll arrange something).
6) Please send me a PM with the username of the winner(s) of the contest when you close it.
7) If I find out that any contest is being run unfairly I will do... something. I'll decide at the time. Yah.

Contest entry rules
These are the rules for people entering contests.
1) All contest should be at a PG-13 level. Therefore entries should be the same.
2) Please follow the rules given by the contest hosts. I know, it's incredibly annoying when people submit an entry that's not following the rules.
3) If you suspect unfairness, do NOT start angrily PMing the host and spamming the contest page. Report it to me.
That's pretty much it. Most of these rules are unique to the individual contest.

Guild Contents:
Main forum: Competitive Writing This is where you can find all the competitions. You come here to compete, host contests and post comments on other people's entries. Remember to run your idea by me before you host a contest, and let me know who won when the contest closes.
Announcements Home of the Irregular Newsletter, posted by me at random intevals whenever something new needs to be said. Be sure to PM me if you have any news you want in the next newsletter, if you do I'll probably make the next issue immediately. Contest winners are also posted in the newsletter. Feel free to comment on the newsletter.
General This is a place used for Roll Call, chat and other things that aren't related to writing. Mostly it's a hangout where you can chat and make friends, ask for advice etc. Remember to be friendly.
Non-Competitive Writing (showcase and critique) This is where you post your writing outside of contests. You can put something up here to show off, or to ask for critique, help or advice. There's a smaller sub-section of rules in that sub-forum, be sure to read them before you post!
Closed Contests This is where contests will be moved once they're finished. That way we avoid cluttering without deleting the contest, and also this makes it easier for competitors because every competition on the main page is open.
Thanks for reading.
