Okay, folks. I've been asked many times about whether or not blurring is a good idea. The problem is that there is no single correct answer to that question. The use of blurriness depends on how you want to define your style. In my opinion, the best of animators probably use a mix of the two depending on what they're animating.

Not helpful yet? I know... How about a comparison!

Blur
User Image Vs. User ImageNo-Blur

See the Difference?
Which one works better is up to subjective opinion. In other words, some will like one better while others will prefer the other. Go with your gut feeling on which way to go since the animations will be YOUR baby anyway, and your gut feeling will probably be right on.

Here are the reference frames:
1. User Image

2.User Image (a little leg retraction here)

3.User Image or User Image To blur or not to blur...

4.User Image (final frame held)

FYI, I cycled 2 and 3 a few times on the above.
Happy Blurring or No Blurring!

the animation look frame skippy without blurs...

and well, blurs are made to see that the camera was not able to catch all the motion...

while if you are not using any blurs, then you have to add more frames to the motion...

like the kick, we should see when she raises it up a little more, instead of skipping to the hitting part...

it's a little complicated to explain, but when you use the blurs correctly, they look better than frame by frame motion...

well like fuku said...

it's an animating style...
