Now before certain people start hurrling books at me, I do not read Harry Potter but thought it should be brought up. The last book has now been release, and we may see a drop in posts thanks to it. So discuss the new book here if you like.

Damn it XD I was expecting a thread like this to pop-up in one of my guilds XD Well, the Potter craze is certainly helping me. The mall's practically empty save the bookstores DX
Those poor girls seeing me window shopping look so desperately at me if I so much dare look at the general direction of said bookstores and lines of people in funny hats rofl heart

Honestly, I can't stand the Harry Potter franchise. The books and the movies both get on my nerves. Not only are they boring to me, but I can't stand how everyone talks about them. All. The. Damned. Time. stressed

i win eighty bucks if he bites the dust, and my boyfriend gets the other eighty. We're in a pool with fourteen other people who all put in ten bucks to see if he lives or dies. Andrew and i are the only two who said he'd kick the bucket, and we split the pool if he does. if not, oh well, what's ten bucks in the long run?

Snape kills Dumbledore!! O________O
I've read most of the spoilers people have released, and I gotta say, what a lamebutt ending. Not that I'm into Harry Potter or anything--I've only seen the first movie and wasn't all that enthralled... but man, that was such a cop-out. rolleyes

My mom's OCD with the series. She's reading the last book as I type...
I was once into them, but after the fifth book I thought they were lame. Now I only see the movies when my mom takes me. o.o
I have to admit, the last one was better than the book. The next movie, however, I'll know nothing about other than "SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE!"
And, honestly, I think Harry will die in this book. I dunno how, but I think he'll die. After all, it's a "deffinitive end" to the series.

Staying... away...from.... spoilers! I want to read the damn thing myself!
Anyhoo.. I like the Harry Potter books. They're way better than the movies, but the movies are a decent way to kill two hours. They're entertaining enough, anyway.

It's funny seeing people jump into lakes and get near-run over by cars just to get the books... or get trampled by those excited little crowds. This is like... the first time I've seen the mall flushed out of people XD; Except the stores selling those books. Hillarious!

I hate you guys. xd Harry Potter's awesome. Stop trying to be different and just read the books like normal children. wink *waves a flag in memory of Fred Weasley* I'll post my thoughts on the newest book, seeing as none of you dorks have read it yet. rofl Quote: I was disappointed with the last novel-- it's plot delivery was rushed and at times forced, while too many characters died unnecessary, pure shock-factor deaths that were never truly justified. I was also a bit taken-aback at the sloppy flow and mechanics of JKR's writing. It read about as easily as pedaling a bike through sand in a number of spots. Many times I found myself wondering if her editor had even glanced at what was going into print. Also, the infamous epilogue, which I knew nothing about until I reached it in the actual book, true to rumor, reads like a bad fanfic and completely destroyed, for me, the closing feelings I had felt upon finishing the previous chapter. (Which I had assumed was the end.) Instead of shutting the book with a sense of peace, I shut the book with a sense of "WTF" blazing through my brain. Plus factors of the book include a few genuinely well thought out scenes of suspense and lots of tension building through author-reader trickery. Every time I turned the page I was surprised to learn a new fact or clue or theory or supposed loophole. While HP7's plot doesn't draw upon clues from previous books as much as HP6 does, I give the storyline credit for bringing back many long forgotten or cast aside characters that appeared as early on in the series as the first book. JKR in some ways redeems herself for slaughtering most of the cast by seamlessly drawing old characters back into the fray and justifying their presence and importance. Overall, I was satisfied to finish the book, but at the same time, as stated previously, disappointed. Whether it was time constraints or personal reasons that led JKR to rush out her latest and last novel, I'm not sure, but it does show in the quality of her writing. However, if I'm to be honest with myself, there's no doubt in my mind that I enjoyed the book, and was happy to lap up to the resolution that came forth. I'm proud to say I've been reading HP since the begining and will miss the joy of reading more books from the series. It had a fantastic run and has added something special to my life.

I'd just rather not read a children's book! xp Okay, I'm kidding. I've just seen a lot of Harry Potter-haters deride the lovers using that argument, and it amuses me for some reason. razz
Anyway, I thought it was weird how many people died from the spoilers I read. Good to see that my thought was on the money and such. razz
Non-conformist? I'm not non-conformist! I'm a RAGING SYCOPHANT!!
