Hmmm...so I was thinking, after I doubly offended __________ by accusing him of being offended by me....(ok, forget that) that there should be a way to criticize people without running the risk of getting into arguments. So, I thought of this: a thread where writers trade hints and writing techniques. So from now on, if it's ok, post your writing tips here! Oh, and if it is needed, specify what kind of writing your tip applies to. Tip number 1: Don't use general words like "big" or "small." There are other words in the English language to use as imagery. Got the idea? Now start posting and being active!

Tip number 3: When writing stories, make sure your characters are well-rounded and well-supported, so they don't seem OOC (out of character)

I hate how Gaia keeps distorting long paragraphs and such with weird symbols and such but a lot of that, that you put up is true. Ill have to think of some interesting tips...
Tip 1: Dont make your character so powerful that they cant be killed. Every character has their kryptonite.
I see too much of this lately...

Tip 2: The character should be well developed so that a reader can not only understand the character but relate as well.Every character has its own personality, and just like in TV shows and well written books, you become that character within your own mind, that’s what you want to create for your audience.

Yep, and you as the writer and creator should be able to connect most with your characters. Or at least connect it to someone you know, some experience....

Tip 3:
It really does help to research the place where the story will make its setting. Maybe you can relate it so well that someday, if someone happens to stumble upon the place you chose they will be able to imagine and see exactly what you described. How often do you find yourself wondering what is in the area of the story that you are writing in present day? I find myself wondering that sometimes. How can you write something in Tokyo if you know nothing about that particular place?

Tip 1:
Pick an interesting subject. Some things are way overdone and once you've read one you've read them all. If you're going to do a common subject at least put some sort of twist in to make it stand out.

Tip 3: Try any idea that comes to you even if it doesn't sound that good to start with. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out but you might be able to achieve a good story from it.
